The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date with all members present:
INVITATIONS:
Invitations were received ~o attend a Memorial Tribute to Harvey '~op" Bacon, first Scout
Executive of the North Essex Council. The ceremony will take pla~e on May 30, at the Law-
Common betwee~ 12:45 and 1:30 p.m... Toparticipate in the Memorial Day Parade and services
in North Andover at 9:00 a.m ..... %o attend remainder of urban renewal seminar at Salem
state College. The Board will attend the firs~ two. ~
GARAGE SPACE:
A letter from WilliamDuffy, public Works superintendent, was received. Mr. Duffy requeated
that something be done about more garage space for town vehicles. The letterwas takea under
STREET LIGHT SURVEYS: :
Street light surveys from the electric company were approve~ and street lights willbetn-
stalled at the corner of Waverley Rd. and saltonstall Rd .... Corner of perry and Beverley
Streets..,.and the vicinity of 374 Osgoed Street.
POLE LO~ATION:
A petition for a Joint pole relocation on Great Pond Road was approved bythe Boar~. _~
FLAG DAY:
At the request of the Nass. Sel~ctmenTs~sSoc.i~atian, the Board issued a proclamation that.
citizens of North Andover display the Flag on Memorial Day. This will counter act
the recent desecrations of our country's flag. .
N~N POLICE STATION: ,...
· Mr. James of Thomas pearson Architects appeared before the Board with temporary plans' of
· the new Police Station. It appears that the plans excede the amount alloted by Town:
Meeting and will have to be revised. The Board will confer the police Chief on said plans.
· APPOIN TN~NT:
iUpon the retues% of Town Counsel, Arnold Salisbury, the Board v~ted to appoint Atty.
· Charles Trembly, Sr., Special Town Counsel for land-takings c~ Salem Street. The motion
for Atty.~ Trembly was mede by Selectman Oakes and seconded by Selectmen Finck. Chairman
William Finneran made a motion that Arty. A1 Bradl~ey be appointed but concurred to the.
other members of the Board and mede the vote unanimous for Atty. Trembly.

:Chairman Fiuneran advised the Board ~hat a representative of theState DP~ would be:in
~ town at 1. p.m. Wednesday to traverse the proposed sidewalk on Chickering Rd. R~ghw. ay~Sur-
..veyor will also be present.
!' SAFETY OFFICER cONM~NDATION: : '"
voted on me%ion of Selectmen Ralph E. Finck, to commend police Safe~y Officer,
Frank H; Dushame on his election as President'of the Massachusetts police Safety~fficers'
: Lehgue. A letter of appreciation from the Board will be added to the commendation ~for the
'. excellent work Mr. Dushame does daily ensuring the safety of the children end townspeople
of North Andover.

H. Salisbury, Town Counsel,. advised the Board that the warrant m~st ,.be 6pened
v~nce more for the Special Town Meeting ~additional articles had been received. ~. The·Board
acted.
