Also, an appropriation of $1,000 for Chapter 90 roads with the condition that $2,000 be contributed by the Town. TRAIN TRANSPORTAT'~GI: A letter from the Mass. Bay Transportation Authority advised Board that train service to North Andover woul~ be continued until such tine that a special town meeting or regula?. town meeting gave the Board the authority to sign the agreement enclosed for continued' train service. A letter sent-by the Board Edward McLaughlin, Counsel for the Mass. Bay, confirmed conversation via telephone with McLaughlin that this situation would remain as stated. The net cost estimate will be $90.18 if both towns contract with the Authority for th8 servtce. ASSESSOR's REPORT: , ...... Mr. 'Phelun, Chairman of Assessor's Boara, met with the Selectmen at their request to"~is- cuss the amount of money alloted the town by the State in comparison with surrounding . com~unities. Mr. Phelan stated that he was ~atisfied that we are getting our fair'share of monies from the sales tax distribution under the existing formula. The only way, he stated, there could be a change would be through legislation. He also called attention', to the fact that the town should get a larger, share of the corporation taxes levied on..the inm dustries in North~Andover. The town is still getting-the same amount'ef cor.po,~a.tl.6~..taxe?.- ., that they received'in 1935. He.went on to state that North Andover ~was conszaerea, a.'J~ea£~nY town and that are. school costs.were low in comparison ~ other co~nunities. "~' ' housing proSect for detailed information. . · POLICE RESERVE LIST - civil Service ' · Noting~that there ere two vacancies on the Police Reserve Force, the board directed / that civil Service be requested to submit a list cf persons eligible for appointment. STGP SI~ REQ~TS - salem & Marbleridge - Harrick Rd. ~' Mr. Wilson of Salem St. appeared before the board to'request a smup sign atthe intersection of Salem St. and Narbleridge Rd. He referred to the many accidents and ,' near accidents at this location. The board agree~ to request the Mass. D.P.W. to* survey the area for this purpose... Mr. Sutcliffe voiced his dissatisfaction with* the location of the stop sign on Herrick Rd.: adding that residents of the area are also' · dissatisfied. Atty. Ficnk stated the present set up was recommended by the police Chief and Mass. D.P.W., and was now on a trial basis. Mr. Oakes stated he felt ~the sign should be located at Saltenstall Rd. rather than Little Rd. and so-voted at~th*e~: ~.meeting- · Mr. Finnaran suggested the objection be considered upon conclusion of the trial period. JOINT POLE LOCATIGIS- Roeedale Ave. - Johnson St. Upon motion of Mr. Oakes seconded by Mr. Fiank, a' petition to relocate one Jointly owned pole on Rosedale Ave. was unanimously approved... Upon motion of Mr. oakes seconded~ by Mr. Finck, a petition to relocate one Jointly owned pole on Johnson St. at Milk St*. was unanimously approved.
