BUS MEETING: Notice was received the day before a scheduled bus meeting to be held on T~eeday, May 21, in Mayor Kiley's Office. Due to previous commitments, the North Andover Selectmen ce,,~ not attend on such short notice and so informed Mayor Ktley's office. As a result, this important meeting was rescheduled for Saturday, at lO:0O A.M. at the Mayor's Office. At this meeting, Michaed Bus Lines, Inc. was appointed by the Tc~m Counsels of North Andover~ Nethuen, and ~adover, together with the Selectmen from said to~ns and May~r Kiley and his City Council, to supply bus transportation for the Greater Lawrence area. This same group are to meet in the near future to draw up a contract between Michaud Bus Lines, Inc. and the commuities. The North Andover Selectmen wore unanimous in their opinion for first choice to appoint Trembly Bus Company to service the Greater Lawrence communities. However, they were out- voted by the other community representatives who favored Michaud Bus Lines, Inc.. GAS EXCAVATIC~: A petition was approvad for the Law. Gas Company to excavate on Tolland Rd. to renew a 2" steel gas main. -- Hearings were set for june 3, at 7:30 end 7:3~ P.M. for petitions from Mass. Electric,, 0~. ;,. for pole and wire locations on Dale St. end on Clark and Holt Roads. ., - ~ CER~T-WICATE C~ INCORPOP~TI~: ' A certificate of inco.~poration was approved by the Board re the North Audover 'Com~it~8. For A Better Chance involving 13 North Ando~er residents whose character references were approved by the police of chief, Joseph W. Lawlor. JANES POOR CC~PLAINT: Chief Lawlor sent a letter to the Board in regard to J. Poor's complaint on the large, diesel truck parked in the neighborhood with the resulting noise and nuisance. ~ Chief Lawlor's letter was inconclusive because he stated that the zoning By-Laws webe not being violated and offered no solution to the problem. ~hairmau I~trk stated .he~was,not sattfied with the contents of said letter and votad to have a further investigation;con- ductsd. .... - A recommendation from the Building Inspector on this complaint still left the 'need for- further investigation. A meeting with the Buila~-g Inspector was voted to act on ~his recommendation that the Zo~t-g By-Laws be amended to preven~ commercial trucks' to be' ' parked in a residential area. INVITATI~iS: : · - ' The 'Board ef Selectmen we~ e invited to participate in the N~al Day Parade' program and the opening day of the Boostar~s baseball ts~ms. ' REQUEST- '~EY: ' Benjamin Sweensy, Sutton Street, requested a permit to store unregistered cars on his property. He stated that he would b~ild a fence to hide any cluttering sights. The Boerd referred the request to the Buq~m~g Inspector for investigation and recommeadaJ rich. The permit was tabled until then. NATURAL RESOURCES- WETLANDS BILL: P :' Ben~amin Osgood sent application for permit to lend fill small area of swamp l~nd ~or the purpose of building homes. A copy of this permit was sent to the Board who referred it t~¢the Conservation Committee for investigation end recommendation. The matter ~wae tabled until the report is received. REPRESENTATIVE HIIRRELL: An acknowledgement of the Board's request waBQhentiv~d by'Representative Hurrell in~re- gar~ to legislation preventing taking of town land by eminent domain by other communities. ~ BARRELS: Baldwin, Francis and Gilberts Streets. A letter of complaint stating that trash barrels were being left along the side ef'the street on the Grogen Playground side continually creating am unsightly street. The Board voted, to refer the problem to the Housing Authority for investigation amd correctdon. A copy of the letter was also sent to the Board of Health because of compl~q~t that gar- bage was also being thrown into said barrels, which attracted dogs who often knocked con- tents of barrels into street whore it remains. WALKER REALTY TRUST DECISIC~: A copy of the above-named decision was received by the Board per their request.
