BINETTE INSURANCE:
A note from Town Counsel advised the Board that there wasn't any outstanding debits
on above-named insurance;that cancellation of the insurance was "in order."

A reco~endation frOm the conservatiOn -Commission re B.Osgood's intent to land-fill
was tabled until Dept. of Natural Resources hearing on the 'matter had bean held.
~UD BUS LINES, INC.
A letter from Michaud Bus Lines, Inc. requesting permit to transport people in North
Andover was received and r, eferred to Town Counsel. Tonn Counsel is reset up meet-
ing with other community town counsels and Lawrence City Counsel. This meeting will
be to determine terms of contract with Mtchaud Bus Lines, Inc. Aletter was voted to be
sent to Michsud Bus Limes to state they were in agreement with their contract award.

contact the Highway Surveyor, N. Nicetta, who would advise, what repairs were need-
ed £or~Inglewood Street; repairs caused by reconstruction of Bass. Ave.
GASG~INE .STORAGE:
A' petition to store additional gasoline at the William J. 'Arsanaitlt Garage on
Chickering Rd. was set for a hearing en June 17j 1968, at ~:30 p.m. The petition
Was referred to FLre 'Chief Daw for approval.
Invitation received to attend the 6th unnual dinner meeting of the Ar~over G~amber

The:B0ard Voted that a letter be sent to N. Kirkmen on this matter requesting immediate
action- and that a copy of both letters be sent to Chief Lawlor and Mayor Kiley.
Selectmen Fred P. Cakes stated that this intersection was a very dangerOUs crossing
fcr~pedestrians ~and children and would Like traffic lights installed.. The Board
vote~ to have Chief Lawlor make a survey ~of this intersection and submit his rec~end-
ations to the Board for their meeting, June 17, 1968.

The Board voted to have letters of thunks and appreciation sent to the individual members
of the Eemorial Day committee for the excellent program put on on Memorial DaY. Chaplain
Lt. COl. John L. Barry, S.J. Ft. Devons, the speaker, was a~'so voted to have a letter of
appreciation together with Brother Linus for the performance of the Central Catholi6 High
SchOOl band.

WOODLANE PRC~L~M:
~ai~n Kirk stated that he would mee~ with the Highway Surveyor to determine the Wood-
lane problem.
The Board of Selectmen voted t~ hold a letter written to Alderman McCarthy of Lawrence
containing a st~eng admonishment regarding the lack of corrective action to abolish the
Lawrence Dump debris being blown over North Andover. A machine was to have ccrredted'
this nuisance 6 months ago. However, a hearing was sbheduled on the Lawrence Incinerator
by the State Board of Health on the complaint of a North Andover resident, June 6, 1968.
The Board voted to hold letter until results of the hearing were known. They also voted
not to become involved so they would be able to .protest the progress of the ~ity of .Lawrence
re the dump in the near future if the hearing did'not produce'results.
MEMO - SOLID FILL- RE GAEAGE SITE:
It ha~ come to the attention of the Board of Selectmen that brush, wooded objects, etc.
were being .dumped into the location of the new garage .~te on Osgood Street instead of
solid fill, as requested. The Board voted to send another memo to all'depart~mnts in-~.
structing that solid fill was wented, only, and that no brush was to be deposited ,at
the garage site. .,

The Board voted to have a larger, lumen light installed on existing pole at 145 ~verly
Street. They also voted to have street light!installed at the corner of Marblehead St.[

CHAPTER 90:
Estimate of work done and cost of Salem Street was received and referred to ~he Highway
Surveyor for checking and payment.
COMMENDATION: TO SELECINANFRED P. OAKES~
A letter of appreciation and thanks was sent ~o Selectmen Fred P. Oakes for his ~ffo~ts
that resulted in the filling-in of an open well on property adjacent to the Desmonds on
lOll Great Pond Road. This matter created a danger to all children in the vicinity.
ANTI-TRUST SALT CASE:
A letter from the Attorney General's office advised the Beard that anti-trust salt case
had been resolved and enclosed a check in the amount of $258.55, the town's pro-rated
share. The check was submitted to Town Treasurer~ june 6, 1968.
