JOINT POLE PETITION: A hearing was set for a Joint pole location petition on August 12, 1968, at 7:30 p.m. MICHAUD BUS INC, PEP~T: A letter was received from Town Counsel advising the Board that the petition for a license to' carry passengers on streets of Morth Andover was in order end that the license could be issued'." ~The Board voted to issue said license with streets named that would be serviced. MASS. ~AY AU~0RITI (TRAIN SERVICE) Aletter was received from Arnold Salisbury with a letter he sent to the lawyer connected with the Mass. Bay Authority train service. ~ In said letter, Mr. Salisbury advised the . attorney, parker Brcwnell, that the Selectmen could not authorize the drawing up of enoth~r contract to continue train passendger service (present contract expires, june 30, 1968) without special town meeting action. As it was too late to have a special town meeting, Mr;" Salisbury requested the ~BTA to continue the service, advise the town of North Andove~. as soon',.as possible the amount of money to be appropriated for this service' afterwhich the Selectmen.may then call a special town meeting for the purpose of authorizing a new ccutract · with .the~Autherity. RELOCATI~ OF C~BLES: .A letter from the ~ess. Elec. Co.,addressed to Murphy Associates, contained an estimate of cost of relocating cables underground on Airport lend. The'Board approved the Superior. Court judgment in fever of the ~arylend Casualty Co. vs the town of'North Andover in the amount of $765.75. Cz advice of To~m Counsel, the directed that the amount be paid. This amount will become charged to an overdrawn to be included in the 1969 tax levy. BOILER INSPECTION: A report was received from the Lumbermens Oasnalty Company on town building boilers, etc. The various reports were sent to the school department. Donovan, 121 Salem Street, notified the Board of his intention to create a pond in the coming year on his property. NATUPJ~L RESOURCES REGULATIONS: Copies of land-filled regulations sent from the Dept. of Natural Resources to John McLay, and Benjamin Osgood were received by the Board. The Board voted to send them to the Conser- vation Commission and the Building Inspector. TF~NAGE PROTEST: The Board received a letter of protest against violence in the country sent be the Greater Lawrence Teen Presidents Council. C.VM.V.REG. PIANNING DISTRICT: A letter received by the Board requested reappointmant of three regional representatiVes~ from the town to serve on Advisory Board of the above-named district. They have already been appointed in April. . Article 'from PuBlic Works Dept. to be inserted in any future Town Meeting. Letter from State Dept. of Public Welfare containing approval for transfer of Federal Funds in I~elfare Accounts. August 12, 1968 · The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date with all members present Selectmen~Finneran and Oakes with Chairman Kirk presiding. HEARING: A petition was approved to ~elocate one pole on Sutton Street, approximately 838 i east- erly of Marblehead Street, one pole removed. JURORS: The Juror drawn for the Septmmber 9 sitting, at Salem Superior Court was Connie J. Cat-. andella, ~1 Brightwood Ave., a bookeeper. For the September 16 sitting at Lawrence Sup- erior Court Alfred Dearden, 124 Middlesex Stree~ was drawn. POLE LOCATION: A petition~ to relocate a Joint pole on Sargent St. was received and set fur a hearing on August 26, 1968. Mess. Bay T~ensportation ~Auth~ri+~v.
