The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen, scheduled for September 9, was postponed
until this date due to the illness of Chairman Kirk and the serious illness of Selectmen
Fred P. Oakes. Sele6tman William Finneran and Chairman Eirk were present at this meeting.
WARRANT:
~he warrant for the Special To~m Meeting to be held on September 30, was reopened to inc-
clude 5 more articles. It was opened at 8:36 p.m. and closed m% 8:38 p.m. ~e .Warrant'
will ~ncluded 11 articles.
Robert K. Gundall, 777 ~Jchnsom Street and James Yule, Jr., 41 Marblehead Street were
chosen' ~o serve on the October 7 sitting, at salem, Mass..
HEARING:
Petition to install conduit on Sutton Street was approved by the Board.
GAS EXGAVATIGIS:
petitions were approved to excavate to install gas services at 1070,62~,1044 Salem St.
and at 22 Harwood Street.
STREET LIGHT SURVEYS:
The Board voted to have surveys made for street lighting at the corner of Rt; 114 & Rt.
125, in front of the Fellowship Bible Church; at 58 Saunders St., Beaudoin residence,
and Turnpike Street from new Eagle-Tribune building to peters St. and Peters Street for
the new Methodist Church.
BUS TRANSPCRTATIC~:
The Board voted to send letters to Mayor Kiley and Michaud Bus Lines, Inc. to inquire of
the future implementation of service.
Barrett ~C~INE CO:
Copies of letters sent to Barrett Machine Co. re the photocopy machine problem and a copy
of reply received by Town Counsel' was received by the Board.
TOJN COUNSEL:
Received was letter re Contarino v. Board of Appeals from Town Counsel. Petition of Can-
tarino and others to build munincipal pool was denied by the Court, favoring the Board of
Appeals.

A commendation-was received from the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune for the Board's consideration
in connection ~th the plan submitted for new street lighting on Turnpike Street~ the new
location of the Tribune.
RECEIVED:
~etter from the Mass. Roadside Council re outdoor advertising on Rt. 495 which was referred
to the Building Inspector.
Letter from J. Ashton Smith objecting to article for new apartments on Rt. !1) which the
Hoard referred to the Board of Appeals.
Articles for special t~m meeting, if held. Mr. & Nra. King appeared requesting article
for correction of water problem on Timberlane Street.
