The two-man Board of Selectmen met on this date ~rith Selectmen William A. Finneran and ~thur
P. Kirk present. The warrant was approved as submitted.
GAS GLINE BIDS:
The annual opening of bids for delivery of gasoline to town departments occurred with only
one company, Gulf Oil Corporation, submitting a bid. They were awarded the bid as submitted
per specifications.
JUROR:
Violet Buchonis, 203 Middlesex Street, was drmm for November 4 Jury duty at Lawrence Super-
ior Court.
GAS EXCAVATIG~S:
Petitions to excavate for gas services ware approved by the Board on Brentwood Circle, Sutton
Corner, Old Clark Rd., 26 Pembrook Rd. 209 Johnson St. Prescott, at High Street, Dartmouth,
at corner of Salem Turnpike.
STREET LIGHT SURVEY:
A street light survey received for Sylvan Terrace was tabled for one week.
POLE INSTALIATI~:
Petition to install 1 Joint pole on Sylvan Terrace was tabled for another week pending inform-
ation requested from electric light company.
STREET LIGHT REQUESTS:
Street light requests were approved and a survey voted for' 82 Long~ood Avenue and 759 Great
Pond Road.
FLU SHOTS:
Board of Health sent notice that flu shots would be ~iven to~m employees on Oct. 17, 4:30
STREET LIGHT REQUEST:
~he Board voted to have a street light installed for M. Devine on Aut~an Avenue.

The will make every effort to attend the Booster Club banqueet on December 7.

WAVERLEY ROED:
A letter vms received by the Board from Joseph Lebet and others complai~.'~ g about heavy trucks
using Waverley Road, night and day. The Board voted to contact Chief Lawlor to investigate
the complaint.
John J. Mathews at 288 Sutton Street appeared before the Board ~o say that grading done by
Highway Dept. had raised the street level very high above his driveway and that cars,
cluding his own, had been dameged going over the drop into his drivm~ay, The Board referred
the matter to the Building Inspector and Highway Surveyor.

POLE LOCATION:
A petition to relocate one Jointly-owned pole on Sutton Street was approved by the Bmrd.
APPO~N~N~: TO~N SANITARY DISTRICT REPRES~TATIVE:
~.;o applicants applided for the position to be town representative in the Greater Lawrence
Sanitary District.. .John J. Monterio, Jr. Chsirman of the Pollution Committee and Jack
Finnerean. Mr. Finneran was ~ppcinted by the Board for the three year term~appointment.
SAL~ STREET RECG~STRUCTI~:
A meeting was arranged by the Board for Salem Street residents involved to be able to con-
sult James p. Carlin, Ass't County Engineer, on their land problems. The meeting will be
held on November 4, at 7:30 P.M.
