A special meetingvas held with Martin Lawlor~ building inspector and Santo
Castigleone with respect to loam which had been removed from three lots of
land in the rear of Sutton Street on Grosvenor St.
Mr.. Lawlor stated that the land had been purchased from the Interstate Real
Estate Company in Pawtucket, R. I. and that Mr. Castigleone had paid $160
on the cos~ of the land which he had purchased for $700. Then he decided he
didn't want the land. Mr. Lawlor further stated that he found out that the
first time he had checked on loam, the land belonged ~o another person and
not Mr. Castiglaone.
Mr. Castigieone stated that he lave the land up over a year ago and that he
had no% taken any loam off. The h~le~is really a cra~er and should be filled in.
He said he had never been taxed for the property.
Mr. Willis then suggested that we contact the Board of Health and ask them
if they could have the hole filled in because of the dangerous condition there.
The land is now ~axed to Mr. James Pettine, 400 Angell St. Providence, R. I.
The land is on Grosvenor S~reet, lots 4, 5, and6. .
SEPTEMBER 27, 1954:
The regular weekly meeting of the Board of Gelectmenwas held at 7:30 P.M. with
all members present. WeeVily bills and all payrolls were approved.
ACCIDENT REPORT:
A copy of an accident report was received from John J. Coanors on Domenic
Bonnano, 34 Lincoln St. who injuring his right chest when he started to board
the truck and it started up throwing him to theground. No action required.
GENK~AL RELEASE:
A release was received from Herbert Whittemore, Brook Road, Boxford, for
consideration of the sum of $15.O0 as part payment for damage caused to his
automobile on September h, 1954 on Great Pond Road. -
UNITED STATES DAY:
Notice received that United States Day will be held on October 23, and the pur-
pose is ~o remind all Americans that the ~lag of t~he United States is ~o be dis-
played and programs, and other demonstrations arrar, ged. No action taken.
AIRPORT COMMISSION,
A letter received informing the board that the Airport Commission is making some
improvements at the Airport at the present time and that they are going'to
spread loam and reseed the banking at the end of the runway. No action taken.
NORTH PARISH CHURCH- CENTENNIAL REPRESENTATIVE:
Letter received informing the board tha~ Harry Sutton, Jr. 129 Johnson Street
wt~1 representative the Parish Committee for the Centennial Celebration~
INQUIRY RELATIVE TO BUILDING ON LAND BORDERING THE LAKE:
A letter received from Ralph F. Abbott relative to building a house near the
country club, on land bordering the lake and requesting information as to the
required.di~tence from the street and the distance from the lake in order to
build a cesspool. The board suggested that a letter be sent to Mr. Abbott
advising him to come to the building and talk with the various departments
relative to this ma,%er.
DEPARTMENT OF CORPORATIONS AND TAXATIONS:
Authority received in accordance with the provisions of Section 31 of Chapter 44,
of the General Aaws, for the payment of liabilities incurred or to be insurred
to an amount not exceeding $5,000 ~o meet the emergency resulting from hurricane
damage in the ~own of North Andover on September 11, 19S4, (Edna).
N~N ENGLAND TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH CO:and AMERICAN TEL. & TEL. CO.
Petition for the removal of 1 pole on Depot Street north of the B & M R.R.
was received. No hearing required and the board voted unanimously to grant this
request.
HIGHWAY SURVEYOR- BEACONHILL BOULEVARD:
A letter was received from Ira D. Catty, Highway Surveyor, informing the bcmrd
that the work of consuructing a road on Beaconhill Boulevard in accordance with
a vote of the annual town meeting on March 13, 1954, has been completed.
~e board will now proceed to aendsall information required ~o the Board of
Assessors in accordance with the vo~e of the town and in compliance with Chapter
80 of the General Laws.
