BIDS FOR FLOOR COVERING:
· ~he board discussed the bids received for covering the floors in twelve offices in
' the town building and they decided that they would prefer to have the rubber tile
covering. The fo]/owing ~bids sub$itted on the rubber tile were as follows:
Joseph De Leo & Sons, 419 Salem St. Madford, submitted a bid of $1890 for 1/8" rubber
tile, and they will sand the floors; lay 15# felt underlayment, cemented to present
-floors; 6" black rubber cover base and 1/8" ~ubber tile.
-Appalachian Flooring Co. bid $1~6~ for 1/8" rubber tile and base and 'if Sffice furniture
is to be moved, the sun of $96.00 would be added to the bid; ~.,
Elliott,s of Lawrence bid $1927.00 for rubber tile, with 6" blakc rubber base and for
moving the furniture the additional cost would be $208.
Fray's of Boston bid $1550 for rubber tile, sanding floors and installation over felt
lining but did not mention the base. ·
~ The Board voted unanimously to award the contrac~ ~o the Joseph DeLeo & Sons on the£r
tow bid of $1890 and a contrac~ will be drawn ~up 'and 'mailed to Mr. DeLeo before the
work can be started. ~he board agreed that greene would be 'the best ~olor for all ?:

TREE REMOVAL REQUEST:
Joseph G. Earolisym, 32 Lincoln St. requests the removal of two trees on Sutton Street,
'near Fleming residence, where he intends to build a home. Mr. Conners looked at these
.~trees and agreed that they should be removed. A hearing was se~ for July 11,- 1955
at 7:30, P. Mi
S/~EET LIGHT REQUEST:
.... Norman Scott requested a s~reet light .at the corner of Adams Avenue and Mass. Avenue
.,. as the nearest light is 150 feet away. ~he board voted to refer this to Mr. Frost for
recommendation
Mr. Finneran had received a request for a street ~ight on School Street at the dead end
of this street and this was ulso referred to Mr. Frost for investigation and report.
~.'~ CO~E~.I~TS RE: STREET LIGHTS':
The board reosived several Complaints about lights which have been out for some time
and would like ~o have something d one about it. There is one at the corner of High
and Prescott Streets which has been out for six weeks and is on the same pole as the
fire bom. Tae company has been called by the police but no action has been taken.
A second light on High Street near the ~ailread Crossing at Davis & Farber Co. has been
out f or the past four weeks and has also been reported many times.
Mr. Kirk suggested that we find ou~ if we have coverage in the to~rn as he has not seen
any service truck around the town. ~his will be reported to Mr. Fros~ for investigation
CZVIL DEFENSE DIP£CTOR:
Dewey Dyer informed the board that he has some new maps of the town which are more up
to date than the present ones and he suggested that the board purchase one for $12.00
and they are available to anyone else who might~want them. Mr. Dyer later informed
Mrs. Dearden that.he might have an extra one already mounted which the board may have.
ACCrnENT REPORTS:
Accident report copies were received on Harriet N. Dunham, hurt at the Bradstreet School
and on Archie Beandoin, hurt on Pleasant Street at Osgood Street. No action required.

SELE CTMEN'S ASSOCIATION:
Letter'relative ~o the ~ale of "ads" for the Massachusetts Selectman paper was
received by the board. No action taken.

COMPLAINT* RE: SEKLING AGRICULTURAL PRODUCPS IN RESIDENTIAL AREA:
A letter was received from Ralph Finck, advising the board that the complaint
relative ~o Mrs. Chapin selling agricultural products in a residen$i~l area should
come directly under the Selectmen and building inspector, until such person applied~
for a specialpermit.
The Board then vo~ed to refer this to the building inspector for investigation
and a written report.
CHANGE OF ST~ETNAME~EQUEST:
Arthur J. D. Nodgdon, 960 ~arnham Street, North Andover has request that the Sole,
'men change the name of Farnum Street, running from Ash Street to Salem Street,
~o Campbell Road. A hearing was set for July ll, 1955 at 7:45 P.M. at the Selectmen's
Office. The hearing will be properly advertised.
DEPT. OF PUBLIC ~ORKS-CHAPTER ~$ Assignment:
A letter received from this Department informing the Board of S$1ectmen that the
Commissioners vo~ed to revise the Chapter 90 assignment of fund~ for Great Pond Road
in North Andover; State $15,000, town and ccunty each $7,500, to'include work on
Pond Stree: in addition to the work on Great Pond'Road.
DRAINAGE AT PLFJ~ANT SZ~EET & CHICK~RING ROAD
A letter received from the Dept. of Public~orks, informing the Board that.they have
investigated the matter of drainage and their participation'in the work of changing
the system and have arriged at the conclusion that the ~State Department of~.Public
Works isnot obligated to participate with the town in a cooperative program.
The Board voted to send a copy of this letter ~oMr. Stephan Helbick, 206 Pleasant
Street,. where the drainage condition isthe problem.
D~PT. OF PUBLIC WORKS:
· Notice received that the Departmenthas certified tha~ the work ~o the ~slue of
$11,839.37 has been performed under Contract 15362~ by Martin Meilet, 12 Beach
P~ad, Salisbury and recommends that the sum o~ $935.~0 be paid to the contractor.

this location and return the forms to this office.
