The Boa~d voted unanimously =o grant permission ~o this company =o excavate 1~
feet in street on Walnut Ave. to install gas service ko Joseph McComisky and
to excavate 50 feet on Mass. AVe.hue and 50 Feet on Walnut Ave. to install gas
main.

2he Board received a reply to their letter of Septemberg, 1955 informing them that
they regret -~ny annoyance caused to residents of the Sutton Mill area with respect
to bur~ing rubbish and they will take steps to take care of this situation. They
will have their plant engineer dicuss the matter of a license with the Fire Chief.
PERAMBULATING THE BOUk~ARIES:
The Board received letters from the Selectmen in Middleton and Andover relative to
perambulating the boundaries. The board voted to inform the Selectmen in Andover
that they would mee~ with them on October 8 or 9 a~ 9:00 A.M. and with the Middleton
selectmen on October 8 or 9 at 2:00 P,M. We will await their reply.
BOYS TO%'~:
The Board received a very complete report from Daniel Grieco, who attended the dinner
and meeting on September lO, in'Boston. The Board was very pleased with the report
but no further action will be~taken on the project at the present time.
VEIEP~S AGENT:
Bernard Bingh~,m called to say tha~ he will need about $3,950 ~o cover his expenses
for the balance of the year. He has sufficient to take care of his October bills.
Since there.is not sufficient money in the Reserve ~nd to take care of this transfer,
it will be necessary to hold a. special town meeting and this will be done at a later
date.
VETERAN FIREMEN'S BUILDING:
Mr. Finneran informed the board £~at he understood that this building in the town
yard was ko be torn down by Louis Miller. The board would like ~o know more about
~this project and will request Z~r. Thomas L~rphy to meet with them on next Monday
to discuss this matter, at' eight o'clock P.N.
COMPLAINT BY FlrtE CHIEF:.
Chief Daw complained that when there is a fire, the private citizens follow too
closely in their cars and he would like to have this checked by the,police. In
one instance recently, the .fire truck couldn't ~et through ~o tho' fire and had to
go around another street. This will be discussed with the-}$1icel:ihiefswhen'he
meets with the board to discuss speeding on various streets.
BOARD OF ~ADE:
Mr.,Joseph Byron and Mr. James Crane came before the board to discuss the piece of
land Lu the rear of-the new filling:station on Main Street. They feel that this would
make an excellent parking area for'the town and mentioned that most-of the nearby ~owns
have a similar parking area.
Mr. Kirk informed them that they'~ould have to have a specia~ bill put through for this
and suggestedthat they talk with the representatives from this district and come back
later to the board. He also felt that they should check to find out if. the lar~ is still
available and what the cost would be, then an ~rticle would be inserted.in the town
warran~ ~o s er if the ~ownwill vote to buy,his land.
BAY STATE ROAD:
_Mr.'Harold Stott, 1 Beaconhill ~had. came before theboard :o inquire what he could do
about Bay Stat~ .R~ad. He purchased some land there and~ants to build a house~but his
engineer has informedhim ~hat this is a very wide street and there is supposed to be an
island in the middle. Consequently he will have to build his house sixty feet from the
center o£ the street. 'Part of this s~ree~ was accepted in 1923 and part of it in
1927. The board suggested that we get in touch with Ralph Brasseur to find out about the
width of the street and what can be done about it.
DISPOSAL SITE:
The Board voted unamimo~sly ~o adhere to their recent policy of no dumping on Saturdays
or Sunday at the new'site. No keys will be, issued ~o any person, not an official of
the town.
OUIDOOR ADVERTISING:
Mr. Kirk amd Mr. Finneran attended the public hearing in Boston relative %o a sign
to be installed off Chic!{sring Road near the railroad tracks. Mr. Kirk informed the
Board that as a matter of policy no permits on an open highway ars ~ranted by the Adver-
tising Authority. He ,felt that although a fair argument had been presented, all went
along with the thought of the Selectmen.
