DECEMBER 19,1955
~ly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at 7:00 P.M.
with all members present. ~?eekly bills and payrolls were approved.
WARRANT OPENED:
THe Board voted unenimously ~o open the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting
in March of 1956 at 8:45 P.M. and ~o close it on January 16, 1956 at 8:00 P.M.
This will give the townspeople a chance to work out their articles and it
will also help the Advisory Board by giving them more time to work on their
~udgets early in the year.
The Board sent a letter to Mrs. McQuesten relative to the Town History and
all members approved of the letter. They informed Mrs. ~cQucsten that they
will be looking forward to receiving the completed town history in the second
or third quarter of next year or preferably earlier. Theyalso informed her
that the balance of the appropriation is considered only sufficient to complete
the printing and binding c~ the history and that they will be unable to com-
pensate her at this time.
~NCREASE FOR SELECTMEN:
Mr. Kirk made a motion that the appropriation for the Selectmen's salaries
be increased to $1500 from $1080 and the motion was seconded by Mr. Finneran
'making e majority vote. Mr. Broadhead voted no.
LAWRENCE ELECT2IC CO:
Notice received that a 2500 lumen incandescent light has been installed on
pole 770, corner of Third and Milton Streets and was installed on November 25, 1955.
A !000 lumen light was removed from pole 771.
G~NERALRELEASE:
A release was received from William ~obinson~for the amount Of $24.05 paid by
the toe of North Andover in paymen~ for damage to his car on December 3, 1955 when
he struck a hole in the road on Sutton St.
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS:
A letter received from the Board of Public ;~orks informing the board that on
December 15, 1955, Herman B. Dine, Director of the Division of Accounts, approved
payment by the To~n of North Andovar of a bill of the ClapperCompany of ~est
Newton in the amount of $830.00 for'equipment purchased under Article 2, of
the w~rran~ for a special to~n meeting on November 16, 1955 provided tha~ the
Advisory Board notifies the Selectmen that the transfer requested under the above
article 2 was made for the purpose of purchasing the~bove equipment.
The board voted unanimously to inform the ~o~m treasurer that they approve payment
of tho bill since bhey have been no;ified by the Advisory Board

-Certification of work to the value of $24, 485.60 has been performed by the J. J.
Donovan Const. Co. on Great Pond r~ad amd recommends that the Sum of $10.249.20 be
paid by the Town of North Andover..

The Board voted unanimously to appoint John

TOWN B~ILDING CLOSED:
The Board voted unanimously to close the to~n building on Friday, December 23, 1955
for the week end and re-open on Tuesday, December 27, 1955 and to close on Friday
December 30, 1955 and re-open on January3, 1956 to give employees a tong wee~-end.
