The Board upon motion of Mr. Kirk voted unanimously to abide by the request of William B. Duffy, Sup~. of Public Works and consider the matter still under advisement. LAWRENCE ELECTRIC CONPANY: Notice received of various changes made in street lighting as requested by the board. A 20,000 lumen mercury vapor light was installed on poles 393 and 2069 Main Street on September 15, 1956 and eight lights of smaller size were removed onMain Street and one on Sutton Street. A recommendation received relative ~o the intersection of High and Sutton Streets and it was suggested that a 2500 lumen light be installed on pole 4819, the first pole southerly on High Street from the corner of Chadwick Street. Cost will be $28.00 per year. Another recommendation was a 2500 lumen light on telephone company pole '7, Academy Road, a 2500 lumen light on pole 2715 on Adams Avenue and that two 2500 lumen lights be installed on Beach Street on poles 3105. and 3991 to replace the existing light on pole 3106. Total cost to the town would be $84.00 per year. The Board voted to table these recommendations and file them with the other requests until TowuMeeting action on the appropriation of money ~ which time action willbe taken. CHAPTER 90 Notice received that the 1957 Chapter 90 allotments for this to~m are listed below and it is requested that an attested copy of the town vote he sent to the Department of Public Works. The Board voted to pu~ this letter in the file for articles for the ann~ town meeting and to make sure that an article is inserted in the warrant. DEPARTMENT OF CORPORATIONS AND TAXATION: Authority given in accordance with the provisions of Section 31, of Chapter 44 of the General Laws for the payment of liabilities incurred or to be incurred to an amount not exceeding $764.02 for the removal of snow and ice due to the extreme emergency involving the health or safety of persons or property in the ~own of Horth Andover. The Board voted unanimously to certify to the Director of Accounts that the sums of $1,79%~22 expended in the emergency declared of December 14, 1945; $854.30 expended in the emergency declared on December 23, 1956 and $2,192.40 expende~ during the emergency declared on December 29, 1956 be permitted to be paid frbm any availablefunds in the treasury. These figures were submitted by'Mr. Catty, Highway Surveyor to cover the bills present to his department for payment. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS: A letter received from the Dept. of Public Works which was sent to the Mass. Selectmen's Association relative to the method of the allocation of funds under the provisions of Chapter 718 of the Acts of the current year. This chapter provides for the distribution of $15,000,O00 to the municipalities of the Commonwealth o~ the following basis: $150 per mile of local public way in effect in 1939 was used as one factorwhich required a little over $2,000,000. The balance of about ~12,O00,000 was distributed on the basis ~of valuations as determined by Chapter 559 of the ~Acts of 1945. There was further information on the distribution of $5,000,OOOunder the provisions of Chapter 588 of the Acts of 1946. No action taken. TRANSFER FROM RESERVE. FUNDAPPROVAL: Approval of the amount of $305.97 to be transferred to the Planning Board appropriation for the payment of the bill for preparation of a zoning map and small size photo copies to town clerk and Planning Board and Attorney General in the total sum of $350.00 was received from the AdVisory Board. There was a balance of $44.03 in their appropriation to make up the difference. RALPH BRASSEUR: A letter from Mr. Brasseur giving the estimated cost of extending the proposed work on Middlesex Street from Third Street to Greene Street at a total cost of $9,840.00. Mr. Finneran took all the correspondence and will take the mat~er up with Mr. McWilliams to get the forms sen~ into Boston as soon as possible. JUROR DRAWN: Raymond Broadhead drew the name of Earle B. Warwick, Marbleridge Road to serve as a Juror at the Civil Session, Salem Superior Court on February 4, 1957. Mr. Warwick is an ins~urance agent.
