HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-01-28JANUARM 28, 1957 The regular weekly meetin~ of the Board of Selectmen was held a~ 7:30 P.M. ;~th all members present. Weekly bills and ps, trolls were approved. ROUTE llO FREEWAY. A letter was received from the Thru Highway Committee, Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce, suggesting the Board express their feelings to Regresentatives and Governor if they wa~t to see route llO completed as a Freeway and not as a Toll Road. Mr. Kirk wished to be recorded for a Freeway in preference to Toll Road. Voted to table this for one week. A letter of thanks was received from Miss Allison Kirk for the diplomacy and speed used bythe Board in securing the installation of a telephone in the vicinity of the Boston & Maine Railroad Station. BIDS on ANNUAL REPORT At § o'clock the bid for the Annual Town Report was opened. The only bid received was from~e Bee Publishing Co., for $6.95 per page. Mr. Broadhead moved the bid be granted to the Bee Publishing Co. The Board voted unanimously to award the bid to the Bee Publishing Co. JUROR DP~¥YN Mr. Kirk drew the name of ~nthony DeSimone, 31Maple Ave. to serve as a juror at the Civil Session, Salem Superior Court on Fe~. 11, 1957. Mr. DeSimone is a maintance man at Eastern Mass. Street Railway. HIGHWAY DEPT. TRUCK Letter received from Theodore L. Schiavoni in referrence ko car owned by John Damon damaged by Highway Truck operated by Edward Lawlor. Letter sent to Atty. Arthur A. Thomson. Received a letter from Mass. Selectmen's Assoc. enclosing copy of H-437 concerningopen meetings of Public Authorities. On action taken. ANIM~L SEIZURE BILL Mr. Kirk moved to be recorded as against the new animal seizure bill. On Mr. Kirks motion the Board %fished.to be recorded as against the Animal Seizure Bill. CML SERVICE Received a letter with two copies of poster for examination of PoliceEntrance for North Andover Police Dept. Chief McKee approved pos~ar as written a~d copy was returned to the Division of Civil Service. AIRPORT Mr. Carry called the Boards attention to the bad condition existing on Clark Street due to the water draining from the Airport runway. Board to contact the Airport Manage~ to have the situation corrected. Jan. 31, 1957 it was reported the road has been fixed. DRAI]~AGE FROM %,YAVERLEYRD. AND MASS. AVE. Atty. ~Thomas Lane was informed that an article has been placed in the Annual Town Warrent, in referrence to the closing of the open ditch supposed ~o be traveling through the land of his clients Anthony and Fortunata Bellia. This matter was taken under advisement 11/26/56 and referred to Atty. Arthur A. Thomson. DOG DAMAGE Mr. ~_lbertAziz repor~ damage ~o his rabbits by dogs owned be Albert Steinberg. Mr. Aziz said he took the matter up with Mr. Steinberg and Mr. Steinberg refused to pay the damages. Letter and Deg Damage Claim sent to the County Commissioners.
