February 4, 1957
The regular weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at 7:00 p.M. with all
members present. Weekly bills and payrolls were approved.
AIRPORT COMMISSION.
Received an invitation from the Airport Commission to attend a dinner meeting at the
· Yankee Doodle Restaurant on Thursday, February 7, 1957 at 6:15 P.M. Voted to send
a letter accepting the invitation and informing them two members would attend.
State Department of Public Works (Dale St..)
Received a letter from the State Depart~ent of Public Works with a copy of Contract
#168~ inclosed. Contract filed.
Board of Heal%hand Board of Trade Re: Colgates property, Osgood & Great PondRd.
Received a letter from the Board of Health requesting the Board delay an form of
sanction of approval of building, renovation or installation at this site until
such time the Board of Health renders an opinion.
Received a letter from the Board of Trade urging the Board of Selectmen to consider
the stand taken byboththeBoard of Heulth and the Board ofpublic Works.

Route 3_10.
Unanimously voted to notify the State Department of Public Works tha~ the Board favors
the Freeway andthat our townwants Route llO the way it was proposed in~emaster
plan of Highways.
New England Tel. & Tel. Co. &Lawrence Electric Co.
Received a petition for a joint pole relocation on Salem St. approximately 595 feet
south of Boxford Rd. 1 pole (remove 1 pole). Public hearing not necessary.
Board unanimously voted the pole relocation be granted.
Western Electric Co.
Received a letter in reference to the plans under way for expanding the Lawrence
Airport in North Andover. Send a letter assuring them that their organization
will becmtacted and considered in any decision the Board~mkes.
Applications to carry a lmbstol or revolver.
Received an application from John Edward Foley Jr. Mr. Foley has had a license
before but let"~itrun out. The Board unanimouslyvoted that the license be granted.
Also received-an application from. Robert H. Lange. Voted that Mr. Lange be invited
to ~appear before the Board.
Nassachusetts Selectmen's Association.
Bulletin tabled from ~an. 28th meeting. Board voted to send a letter stating that
the Board is in~greement and would support bills H659, N1391, H2355 and H2356.

Received acknowledgement of the file onMarino case. Letter filed.
Arthur A. Thomson: Re:MCKee
~Received a letter from Arthur A. Thomson in reference to Linda McKee case, release
enclosed. Letter and release filed.

Copies of ~elease on Moody Street sen~ to seven parties who had not signed the release.
Also sent letters asking them to sign and return as soon as possible, self-addressed
envelope enclosed.
Special Police.
Mr. Francis Dowd appeared before the Board and requested to be appointed for special
police work. The Board looked into the matter and appointed Mr. Dowd special
police officer for special police duty only on the grounds at Merrimack College, as
specified on the appointment. Letter and appointment sent to Rev. Vincent McQuade.
WARRA~ OPENED
Warrant opened at 10:10. Motion by Mr. Kirk to open warrant for insertion of article
on Civil Service Petition. Seconded by Mr. Broadhead. Unanimous vote by the Board.
