February 11, 1957
The regular weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at 7:30 P.M. with all
members present. Weekly bills and payrolls were approved.
Mr. Barry appeared before the Board to inform them of a hearing with the D.P.U.
relative to granting permission to run wires along the 01d Railroad Right of Way.
MOODY STREET HEARING
Rearing held at 7:30 P.M. No objections. Mr. Kirk moved that favorable action be
taken, Mr. Broadhead seconded the motion. It was unanimously voted that favorable
action be taken and Moo~v Street be now adjudicated and await the acceptance at
Town Meeting. ·
Police Entrance Ew~aination
Received Notice of Police Entrance Ew~mination dated March 23, 1957. Last date
for filing application March 4, 1957. Notice to be posted.
Received a letter from Hines Pavement Marking in reference to white lines.
Referred the~ letter to Chief McKee.
ADAMS AV~.
Norman Scott, 51 Adams Ave. informed the Board that Adams Ave. is in a very
bad condition due to the fact that the Board of Public Works snd the Lawrence
Gas Co. has torn up the road. The Board unanimously voted that both parties be
notified.
ARTHUR A. THOMSON
The Board unanimously voted =o appoint Judge Arthur A. Thomson as counselto
proceed with the necessary s~eps as taken at the Special Town Meeting, Feb. 4, 1957
in reference to the additional land takings. Copy of warrant of Special Meeting
sent to Judge Thomson.
ESSEXCOUNTY RETIREMENT BOARD Re: George A. Carey
Received a letter advising the Board that George A. Carey has made application for
Accidental Disability Retirement effective Feb. 20, 1957. He should not appear on
a pay roll of the Town for any period subsequent to such date, unless otherwise
instructed by this Board.
AIRPORT REGULATIONS.
Received re~lationsof the Administrator of Civil Aeronautics relative to memoranda
and hearings on the disposition of project application.
LAWRENCE GAS CO.
Board votedunanimously, subject to Mr. Duffy,s approva~to gra~t permission to the
Lawrence Gas Co. to excavate about 600 feet on C hickering St. commencing at the
Prescott St. intersection and extending northerly direction to inst~11 gas main.

Board unanimously voted, subject to Mr. Duffy, s approval, to grant permission to the
Lawrence Gas Co. to excavate at ~arious locations on Sutton Street in the vicinity
of the Airport Entrance to repair gas main.
PARADE
'~Received a request from the New Car Dealers Association Inc. to have a parade in
North Andover on Feb. 21, 1957. The Board granted permission and the route of the
parade given the Police Dept. Letter of permission granted sent to John Greenwood,
Parade Committee.
DEPARTNENT OF PUBLIC UTILITIES
Received a notice of hearing, March 5, 1957 at 10 o'clock as to the propriety of the
rates and charges stated therein, at the Departments Hearing Room 166 State House,
Boston.

Mr. Broadhead drew the name of Walter Cushing, 23 Dana St. to serve at the Civil
Session, at Lawrence, on March 4, 1957. Mr. Cushing is a truck driver.
