RE-ORGANIZATION The Board of Selectmen re-organized. Mr. Philip Sutcliffe made a motion that Mr. Ralph E. Finck be elected Chairman of the Board. Mr. William A. Finneran seconded the motion and it was a unanimous vo~e. SALEM STREET John ~olan and Chester Lowe appeared before the Board in reference to the very ba~ondition of Salem Street from the residence of Stephen Gallant to the Midd~eton line. Mr. Finneran made a motion the Board meet with the residence of Salem Street and the ~.%ghway Surveyor, Ira D. Carty nextMonday evening at 8:00 P.M. in the Selectmen, s Office. Lawrence Gas Company Petition: Received a petition from the Lawrence Gas Company to excavate about 10,420 feet starting on North Main Street about 45 feet north of the north line of Sutton St. continuing across Sutton Street along Main Street and along Waverly Road to the North Andover - Andover line ~o install gas main. Mr. Finneran made a motion that the 'Eawrence Gas Company be ask to fill the entire trench with one foot of gravelsnd hot-top same. It was unanimously voted. A representative of the Gas Company was present and said he would take this up and report back. Petition turned over to Mr. Dully, Supt. of Public Works for his approval. ACCIDENT REPORT. Robert S. Dill Received a report from the Board of Public Works on.~an.~accident to Robert S. Dill. Unanimously voted report be filed. CIVIL SERVICE Received. a provisional authorization for 1 reserve patrolman. As there.is no eligible list the Board feels it is not necessary ~o ac~ at this time. Agent for Veteran,s Benefits Received a form to be filled out from the Office of Commissioner of Veterans Services. Voted this be filed until next Monday, s meeting. Notice from Department of Public Utilities filed. FLUORIDATION Received a copy of an open letter to the ~erican Dental Association. This letter to be forwarded to the Board of Health. Mr. Endicott feabody and Mr. Marino of the Lantern Corp. came before the Board in referrence to the property on Dale Street. Mr. Marino said he has received the approval of the Planning Board and awaits the Board of Health,s approval. Ne would~ like ~wo bonds. Motion made and seconded the weekly bills of the Selectmen~s Department be ~pproved~ It was a ananimous vote. Periodical Meeting with Department heads. Mr. Finck stated he felt the Board should meet periodicallywith the Department heads in the town and the Board at their nex~ meeting should discuss such a plan. Truck S~orage Mr. Delmar McNeil ask for permission to store four or five trucks on his properry on Willow Street. It was unanimously voted to refer this to the Planning Board to see what ruling as to the effec~ of zoning and by-law situation. Animal Inspector Received an application for the appointment of animal inspector from Dr. E.C. Bulger. HiEh School Basketball Sent a letter to Principal Alvah Hayes congratulating t~Tem~, Coach and managers on their recent achievement in the basketball tournament at the Boston Gardens. Card from M~ynard Aerial Inc. referred toM r. Connors. 280 March 11, 1957 con't. ART~;R A. THOMSON RE: William E. Kin~all et.al. Letter from Atty. Thomson advising on the case of William E. Kimball et. al. that it is pending in Land Court and is set for trial March 25, 1957. Voted to advise the Planning Board. ARTHOR A. THOMSON RE: John C. Damon Received a letter and check for pa~ent of repairs to Highway truck. Check turned over to Mr. Carty forhis si~nature and he is to then turn it over to the Treasurer. DUTCH Elm Disease Control. Received a letter from~he Department of Natural Resources in reference to e pro- gram of Dutch elm disease control. Voted to discuss this matter further with Mr. Connors. Mr. Earl Foster appeared before the Board and requested he be considered for the appointment of Animal Inspector. Mr. Finneran spoke about the Wage and Salary Analysis. It was voted this be tabled until the Board has more time to study it. PISTOL PERMITS Mr. Finck moved pistol permits be issued only on Monday nights in the future. Mr. Finneran seconded the motion and it was a unanimous vote. HEARING ON GASOLENE STORAGE Mr. McClung appeared before the board with License Chairman Sutcliffe presid- ingfor a hearing concerning a storage license for an underground~O0 gal. gas- olene tank. N=. Finck asked ~f there were any abutters concerned. Mr. McClung answered there were no abutters. Mr. Finneran moved the license be granted. Mr. Finck seconded the motion and it was an unanimous vote. HEARING ON LIQUORLIC~SE Mr. Weaver appeared as a representative of the North Andover Country Club, in the interest of am all-alcoholic (seasonal)license application. It was noted that a~l forms and signitures were in order and Mr. Finneran moved the license be granted. Mr. Finck seconded the motion and it was a unanimous vote. LAWRENCE GAS CO. PETITION Mr. Finck read Mr.-Dnffy,s letter in regard to the Gas Co. petitiondiscussed at last weeks meeting. Mr. Duffy suggested the Gas Co. excavate the opposite side of the street as there are water pipes on the proposed s~de. Mr. Finn- eranmoved the request be tabled until next week and request a Gas Co. rep- resentative be present for discussion. Chairman Finck said he would con- tact the Gas. C~. COMPLAINT Mr. D~ffy notified the Board of a very bad ditch condition at 294 Pleasant St. caused by the Lawrence Gas Co. Mr. Finck aaid he would advise the Gas Co. LETTER A letter read from Mr. RusseLl E. Jenkins advising that a sign reading, "NORTH ANDOVER CENTER" had been removed. WAGE AND SALARY PROGRAM Chairman ~inck suggested a letter be sent to sll survey applicants requesting them ~o be present for interviews March 25, 1957 at 7:30 P.M. SCHOOL BELL A' letter from L. R. Porter, Danvers, Mass. requesting information about the possibilities of purchasing a bell from the tower of the old Johnson High School building. The letter was referred to the School Board. ALL DEPARTMENTS Mr. Finck requested that all department heads be notified of a Joint meeting April 8, 1957. DAMAGE CLAIM A letter from Len, s Taxi with an enclosed bill for repmtrs relating to damages
