SECOND STREET
Mr. Ftnneran moved that Mr. Ralph Brasseur be retained to take prelimizary action on
the reconstruction of Second Street under Chapter 718 Acts of 19%6, the work to follow
Middlesex Street ~s soon as possible. Mr. Sutoliffe seconded the motion and it was a
l~laxL'~ous VOte.
SUTTON STREET ''
Mr. Sutcliffe seconded a motion by Mr. Finneran that Sutton Street he advertised for
Bituminous Cover under Chapter 90 Maintenance. The Board voted that bids would Be
received up to 7:30 P.M. on August 12, 1957.
DR0~G
The Board discussed the payment of b~ls for services rendered at Lake Cocbichawick on
June 2%, 19%7 (George Pierce D~owning). It ~as decided that if the Police Depax'tment
did not have enough money in their appropriation to cover this expense, payment .would
come from the Contingent Fund.

Chairman Finck explained to Mr. Maker, Town Treasurer~ that a~l dspos~'te on plans .and
specifications not returned to the Town within three ds~s would autonatica~ be turned
over to the ~reasvre~.
FUEL O~L BIDS
Mr. Sutcliffe suggested the Board 'advertise for bids on fuel o~ to be delivered S0, the
Town Building, To~n Shed, Fire Station and Police Depar~uent. Mr. Finneran suggested
Mr. Garneau-~e given the contract for the coming year as he had never been given an~ of
the Town business. It was decided an amount o~o~llousge should be estimated in order
to advertise.
STREET LIGHTING
On Mr. William S. Whitoomb's request for street lights on Boston Street the Board
directed a letter to Mr. George ~rost of the Merrimack*Esse~ Electric ¢o. for a
recamendation on street lighting for Boston Street.
HOUS~NG PLA~S FOR T~E OLD A~ED.
Mr. Sutcliffe read a proposed plan for housing units for the Old Aged which he had
compiled from information received from other touns and the State. He recommended that
Mr. Christopher McOerth~ of the State Housing Authority be contacted for further inform-
ation on the matter. The Board voted to' hold a meeting on the matter August 12,', 19%7
at 8:00 P.M. and that mmbers of the local ~ousing Authori~ be invited to attend along
with Mr. Christopher McOart~.
PERSONNEL BOA~
Chairman Finck suggested that ap~intments to the Personnel Board be postponed until
next meeting, that-a notice be inserted intthe newspaper for applicants and that
applications be thoroughl~ studied before appointments are made. The'Board agreed.
GASOLINE STORAGE
An Application for gasoline storage and fuel storage by Mr. William Kent ~us accepted
by the ~oerd and a hearing set far August 12 at 7:30 P.M. Legal notice to take place.
TO~N YARD
The Board voted to hold a meeting with the heads of the departments on August 12 at 7:30
relative to conditions in the town~ yard.

The Board of Selectmen met on this date with all meabers present and Che.irman Finck
presiding.
SUTTOR STREET
The Board received and read the following proposals on Bituminous Concrete to be laid
on Sutton Street under Chapter 90 Maintenance Work: Trimeunt Bituminous Products Co.
7.%4 per ton. Essex Sand end Gravel Co. 5.9% per ton. Merr~ ~sxtngn~o~p~ion
6.14 per ton. Warren Bros. Roads ¢cmpar~ 6.75 per ton. Rock Ashpkault Corporation
6.8% pr ton. M. Heffron & Son 6.86 per ton. George Brcx Paving Oompan~ 6.50 per ton.
The Board thanked ~ present for their proposals and stated the matter would,be taken
under advisement. The Board later awarded the contract to the Essex Sand and Gravel
Compan~ of west Peabedy for their iow bid'of %.95 per ton to be laid in place. The
Bcard directed that Mr. M~illiame or Mr. Be ~r~y of the ~onrd of Public Works in Danvers
be notified relative grades of catch basins e~c.
