The Board of Selectmen held a special meeting on this date with all members
present.
Mr. Seward Weber, Boston Hill S~i Development Corporation, appeared before the
board to discuss the matter of securing a temporary permit to erect toilet fac-
ilities at the Ski Tow to accomodate their skiers. Mr. Weber stated he had re-
quested a public hearing before the Appeal Board but that this would not take
p~ace until the middle of February. The board inquired as to the ~ype of
dwelling to be errected and stated they were satisfied that Mr. Webers intentions
were good. The board advised Mr. Weber to see Mr. Martin Lawlor, Building ~spector,
for a temporary pe~-~,.~t.
HIGHWAY DEPARTmeNT
Mr. Carry appeared before the board as scheduled and payment of the new sand-
spreader took place with all in agreement on the matter of payment.

The Board of Selectmen me~ on this date with all members present and Chairman Ralph
E. Finck presiding. The Warran% for payrolls and bills payable was studied, approved
and signed by all members of the board in the presence of James J. Naker, Treasurer~
DRAINAGE COMPLAINT
Mrs. Broadhead and Mrs J. Kilcourze of Longwood Avenue appeared before the board to
protest an overflow of water into the cesspools on Longwood Avenue. Chairman Finck
stated he would speak to the Highway Department and find out if there was an easement
on the land behind their homes, and then contact the complaintants on the proper
p~odedure for correction of the matter.
INSURANCE
Mr. Coffin and Mr. Whipple, members of the North LAndover Insurance Association,
presented the board with an insurance estimate for the 1958 budget. It was re-
commended that a $25,000. appropriation be requested. Discussion took place on
blanket bonds for all employees and fidelLty bonds for town equipment. The board
stated they would take the matter under.advisement.
MOSQUITO SPRAY
Mr. William J. Maynard, Sales Mgr., Fast Coast Aviation Corp., Lexington~ Nass.,
appeared before the board to discuss the advisability of placing an article inthe
Annual Town Warrant to appropriate funds for spring and summer mosquito spraying.
The board referred Mr. Maynard to Mr. Johr. Connors, Tree Warden, for recommendation.

On motion by Mr~~ Finneran, seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe, the board voted unanimously
to grantpermission tothe Merrimack-EssexElectric Companyto installone pole
at the corner of Prescott and ~High Streets.
CHAPTER~O AGRE~NE~TS
The Board signed two copies of Chapter 90 agreements ~bmitted by the State Dep't.
of Public Works on payment to the town its share of money for Chapter 90 work on L
Dale Street.
BOARD OF REGISTRARS
The Board of Registrars appeared before the board to protest a letter from the board
relative to election paylincreases. Mr. Cronin, Chairman of the Registrars stated
that the Board of Selectmen were always the authority in this instance. Mr. Finck
stated that most boards offered recommendations to the Selectmen on such ma~ters but
advised Mr. Cronin and his board that the Selectmen would take the situation under
consideration and sonsult with the board at a later date. Mr. Cronin offered the
following information in regard to the number of employees in each precinct and re~
commended that four new counters be appointed to Precinct I:
Precinct I - 14 workers - 8 counters.
Precinct II- 18 workers 12 counters
Precinct 3 - 20 workers 13 counters
Precinct 4 - 20 workers 12 counte~s
RECREATIONAL COUNCIL
At a scheduled meeting, the Recreational Council discussed with the board the matter
of bus transportation for the townspeople ~o the Brooks School Skating Rink. Mr.
Sutcliffe had previously suggested that such service be provided especially to the
children lacking transportation. The mat~er was then referred to the Recreational
Council. Mr. McEvoy, Chairman, mentioned his board was not in favor of spending
the appropriated money for this cause as there was little reason to believe the need
