GSGOOD MILL - SMOKE STACK
The board accepted a letter from Mr. James T. Poor, Sup~t. of Stevens MiL1, relative
to the soot condition emanating from the Psgood Mill smoke-stack and stating the
condition would be eliminated in the near future due to the fact that they were
converting to F~el Oil rather than the soft coal now being used.
BGARD OF HEALTH
Dr. Julius Eay~ (~airman of the Board. cf Health, wrote to the Selectmen requesting
the Wire and Building Inspectors investigate the Lenova House for sub-standard
living conditions and forward a report to the Board of Health. Chairman Finck stated
any report from the Wire & Building Inspectors would be made to the Board of Selectmen
~ho will then meet with the Board of Health to discuss the matter. The b~rd ~rected
the B~ilding and Wire Inspectors be so notified.
STREET LIGHTING
The .board received notification from Merrimack-Essex Electric Company of lights
installed in the vicinity of the new Franklin School as requested.
The board agreed to have a street light installed om Water Street opposite the
new Laundromat which is to be open twenty~four h~s a day. Mr. Willis had requested
this installation.
¢C~TY CENT~
The board considered the amended proclamation submitted by the North Andover Comr. Auity
Centers, Inc., and agreen to request that Part I, Sentence Two, of the proposed plan
of assistance be further amended as it is beyond the authority of the Selectmen to
endorse such a statement.
BOARD OF APPEALS
The Board of Selectmen accepted a Board of Appeals notice of public hearing on Mr.
Carmelo Marino request for a vartence of the Zoning By-Law in order to build a new
home at 141 Beverly Street.
DEPAR~IT OF PUBLIC W~KS
The board accepted a Public Works Report on Highway programs planned and proposed for
the State of Massachusetts. This report includes the proposed relocation of~ Route 110.
This meeting adjourned at 8:45 P.M.
Novmber 5;
The board wrote a letter of correction to the Department of Public Works. on this
date stating they wore mis-informed on the matter of "SL~ C~ILDREN' signs on
Osgood Street and that the residents of the area are completely satisfied with
the two signs recently installed.
November 10, 1958 - Selectmen 's Meeting
The Board of Selectmen met on this date with all members present and Chairman
P~lph E. Finck presiding. Due to the November 11 holicay, the Selectmen held
their meeting this afternoon rather than the usual Monday evening.
This meeting was called to order at 4:40 P.M.
BG~RD OF PUBLIC WC~ - Mr. Puffy
Mr. Daffy asked the board if any new developments had taken place on the Woodstock
road project. Mr. Finck stated he understood arrangements wore vetng made by
Mr. Anderson to-.post a bond with the Town but that the matter was entirely in
the hands of ~e Planning Board.
Mr. Duffy mentioned that the Lawrence Gas Company us not leaving their street
excavations in a satisfactory-comditlen. Dis~sien took place on the check-lng
of all Gas Company work following the issuance of a permit.
JUROR D~AWN
Town Clerk John J. Lyons appeared before the Board of Selectmen for the purpose
of drawing a Juror for Salem Superior Court, Civik Business, on December 1, 19S8
Mr. Sutcliffe drew the name of Mrs. Sarah Driver of 37 Columbia Road, a sales-
lady. The Board directed Mrs. Driver be so notified.

Mr. Sutcliffe motioned Mr. David C. Rand of 242 Main Street and Mr. Charles A.
Nicosia of 42 Second Street be appointed permanent Reserve Police Officers in
