The appointeee were the. ffrst two na~es on the certtffied list sub~tttted by Civil Service. The third name on the list was William J. McMahon of 3 Lenova House. Ail applicants had stated their' willingness to acc. ept appointment. The forms wfJ.l be completed and returned to Civil Service for approval. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORES Stop Signs ~airman Finck read letter ~rom the Department of Public Works stating stop. signs will be erected by said department on Pleasant and Court Streets at Osgood Street. MARINO BOND ~airman Finck read letter from Atty. Roland H. Sherman=requesting action in connection with the Marine bond. Mr. Finck referred to the Selectmen~s records showing that the Marine file had been turned over to Atty. Thomson as acknowledge~ in a letter'frc~ Atty. Thomson dated February 1, 195~. Mr. Finneran motioned the Planning Board, Mr. Marine, Atty. Sherman and Atty. Thomson be invited to the Selectmen's Meeting of December 1, 1958 at 8:00 P.M. for the purpose of discussing this matter. Mr. Sutcliffe seconded the motion and the vote was u~an- LANTERN CORPORATION - Bond The ~irman read Planning Board letter stating action in extending Lantern Corp. bond for two ~ears from the first day of April, 1958. Mr. Finmsran motioned the Board of Selectmen go along with the decision of the Planning Board and so notify the Lantern Corporation. Mr. Sutcliffe seconded the motion and the vote was ~ons · ~S~RANCE - Fleet Fire and Theft Chairman Finck read letter from Thomas J. McGrail, Insurance Agent, in reference to adding the Fire Department Amphibious Duck to the Fleet Fire and Theft policy Mr. Sutcliffe stated he felt no necessity of insurance on this vehicle. Mr. Finck stated the matter should be referred to the North Andover Insurance Assoc. for investigation and recommendation. Mr. Finneran m~de this.a motion, seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe and voted unanimous. ~GHc~?~dered recommendation from Merrimack-Essex Electr~'~cCompany for. improved street lighting in the vicinity of St. Michael's Church. ~trman Fimck stated the need for improved street lighting in this area. Mr. Finusran motioned the lights be iastalled. Er. Sutcliffe seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. JOINT POLE LOCATION Mr. Fin~eran motioged a hearing be held on Nov~b~ 24, 1958, 7:30 P.M. on the petition of Merrimack-Essex Electric Co. and New England Tel. & Tel. Co. for a Joint instaliation of one pole ~ndAdams Avenue. Motion was seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe and voted unanimous. GASOIffNE STORAGE Mr. Sutcltffe motioned hearing be held on November 24, 1958 at 8:00 P.M. on application of J. P. Stevens Co. for license to store nnderground 20,000 gals. of #6 ~uel Oil at the Osgood Mill plant, North Andover. DEPARTMENT ~F PUBLIC WORKS The board accepted Depar~ent of Public Works vote of approval of contract ~0-1855 for Dale Street dateddDecember 26, 1956, in that work was completed as. called for in said contract. LAND COURT The board accepted notification of pendency in land cou~t of petition of Hervey V. Bilodeau et ux for the registration of land in North Andever on Adams Ave. SITE-PLAN REVUE - Tow~ Garage Mr. Sutcliffe motioned letter be sent Mr. Ralph Brasseur, Engineer, requesting he present his report to date on the site-plan revue for a new Town Garage at the Selectmen's Meeting of November 17, 1958 at 8:15 P.M. Mr. Finneran seconded th~ motion and the vote was unanimcu~. APPOINtmeNT Special Police Officer Mr. Sutcliff~ stated Mr. Roland G. Cook of 123 Mass. Ave. be appointed Special Police Officer to check cars for sppeding on Mass Ave. Mr. Finneran stated appointment not nece-~s~ry for that purpose and appointment does not give him any police authority. Mr. Sutcliffe stated no harem in making the appointment. and motioned Mr. Cook be so appointed. Mr. Finneran seconded the motion. Mr. Ftnck stated Mr. Cook should be advised he has no police power under this app- ointment. The vote was unanimous.
