HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-12-29December 2~, 1958 The Board of Selectmen met on this date with Mr. Finck and Mr. Finneran present. Mr. Sutcltffe was absen% due to illness. Mr. Robert Finneran substituted for Mr. Frank Murphy, newsreporter, who is also ill. HEARING - Pole ~ocation John and ~astant Shay of Winthrop Avenue were present at a hearing on the petition of the Merrimack-EssexElectric Co. for the location of two poles on Waverly Road. The electric company representative explained where the new poles were to be located and the abuttors expressed their satisfaction. Upon motion of Mr. Finneran seconded by Mr. Finck and voted unanimous, permission was granted. POLE LOCATION - High School Upon motion of Mr. Finneran seconded by Mr. Finck and voted unanimous, hearing was se~ for January 12, 1959 at 7:30 P.M. on the petition of Nerrimack-EssexElectric Co. for one existing pole location to be abandoned on Town of North Andover property located at the rear of the North Andover High School. STREET LIGHTING The board accepted Merrimack-Essex Electric Company notification of street lights installed on Clark'Stree~, Massachusetts Avenue and the vicinity of Stevens Mill. BOSTON ~MAINERAILROAD PETITION - Wilmington Meeting Chairman Finck read invitaticnfrom Town Manager of Wilmington to attend a meeting on JanuaryS, 1959 at 8:00 P.M., Wilmington High School, for the purpose of dis- cussing the Bos%on &Maine Railroad ~etition for the curtailment of certain pass- enger trains and station stops. The beard directed a letter be sent to the Town Manager of Wilmington stating the board will be unable to attend because of own beard meeting on Monday nights and expressing sentiments of the board in respect to this matter. PGLE LOCATION- Removal Upon motion of Mr. Finneran seconded by Mr. Finck and voted unanimous, permission was granted the Merrimack-Essex Electric COmpany and New England Tel. & Tel. Co. on their petition to remove one pole on Johnson Street. DAMAGE CLAIM Upon motion of Mr. Finneran seconded by Mr. Finck and voted Unanimous, claim for damages by MrS. Lucy Provencher of 31~ Sutton Street in the amount of $13.15was approved for payment by the to~mupon receipt of a Release form signed and witnessed. PREPARATION ~F TO~N WARRANT The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously that in the future the Town Clerk would be responsible for the preparation of the Town Warrants and that all Department Heads and Boards be so notified. Mr. Finck and Mr. Finneran directed that Get Well Wishes be sent to Mr. Sutc~iffe and Mr. Frank Murphy who are absent this evening due to illness. January 5, 1959 The Selectmen'met on this date with all members present and Chairman Ralph E. Finck presiding. This meeting commenced at ?:30 P.M. HEARING - Pole Location Uponmotion of Mr. Finneran seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe and voted uaanimous, permission was granted Merrimack-Essex Electric Co. and New England Tel. & Tel. Co. to install a Joint pole on Court Street. GOVERNOR FOSTER FURCOLO The Selectmen received a letter from Foster Furcolo requesting the board attend a meeting on January lC, 1959, at St. Mary's Auditorium, La~rence, 2:00 P.M., at which time the Governor will speak on the financial status of the state. Chairman Ralph E. Finck stated he will attend this meeting. TONN CLERK John Lyons, Town Clerk, appeared before the board to explain the for~mrd and pre- amble he wished to inse~t in the Annual Town Report. This included a telephone index of all town departments snd officials. The board agreed this was satisfactory.
