FEDERAL HOUSING Chairman Finck read letter from the Federal Housing and Home Finance Agency 'in reply to board request for information on Federal assistance in provid- ing housing for persons displaced by the location of Route 110 through the Town of North Andover. Mr. Sutcliffe mo~oned the letter and material submitted therewith be referred to the North Andover Housing Authority. Mr. Finnersn seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. DEP'R. PUBLIC WORKS - Ness. Ave and Osgood Street Chairman Finck read letter from the Department of Public Works relative to traffic conditions am the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Osgcod Street. Letter contained recommendation that a stop sign be placed on Osgodd Street therefore eliminating the necessity of reducing the height of the stone wall on the Mitchell Segal property. Mr. Finck stated he did not see where s stop sign would increase visability. The board agreed to await result of the installation before taking further action on ~he matter. LAND DAMAGE - Dale Street The board accepted a letter from Herman B. Dine, Director of Accounts, approving reimbursement to the County for land damages paid to Charles M. and Ruth Lewis of Dale Street. Upon recommendation of Mr. Connors and motion of Mr. Finneran seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe and voted unanimous, petition by Mrs. Kenneth Dill, 64 Elm~St., for permission ~o remove one tree was granted. POLZCEREPC~T Accidents Chairman Finck-read report fromthe Police Department of seven accidents at the intersection of Middlesex and Marblehead Streemsand two accidents at the intersection of Middlesex and Beverly Streets in the past two years. This information was contained in letter of last week to the Department of Public Works requesting traffic signals and stop signs at these reepec~- ive intersections. A repor~ of a recent accident at Stevens Corner was accepted and at ChairmanFinck,s suggestion, referred to the D.P.W.-' MARINO BOND - Woodstock Street The board accepted a copy of letter from Ralph Rrasseur, Engineer, ~o Ira. D. Certy, Highway Surveyor relatiw tothe Merino Develdpment o~ Woodstock Street. Estimate of the cost of the work required including the engineer- ing cost of layout and supervision was set at $24~S.00. LAWRENCE GAS COMPANY REQUEST Upon motion of Mr. Sutcliffe seconded by Mr. Finmeran and Voted unanimous, permission was granted the Lawrence Ges. Co. to excavate 390 feet on Rea Street to inst~ll a gas main and gas service for Sherwood Homes, Inc. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS - Mosquito Control Project Chaizman Finck read notificationof vote of the County Commissioners stating they held no part in the mosquito Project voted bythe State Legislature and that correspondence on this mat~er should not be directed to the County Commissioners but to the State Department of Public Works. G~OUCESTERCITY CLERK- Mosquito Control Project Chairman Fimck read letter from the Gloucester City Clerk relative to the Mosquito Control project and requesting the board take action to seek elimination of the Mosquito Control Program. The board directed the result of Special Town Meeting action of this date be forwarded the Glaucester City Clerk. ( Town Meeting action vo~ed to withdraw from the project.) COC~SMAN LANE - Samuel B. 0sgood Postage Stamp A copy of the "Congressional Record" con;aining reference to the North Andover Board of Selectmen's letter endorsing issuance of a posgal stamp commemor- ating Samuel B. Osgood, first Postmaster General of the U.S., was submitted by CongressmanThomas J. Lane and.viewed bythe board. Chairman Finck suggested a copy of the board letter, so referred to, be sent Mr. George Gelineau of the Eagle Tribune Puclishing Cc., who is interested in this matter. Upon receipt of information that the Town is now insured for liability against property damage and personal injury, the board voted unanimously to reSer all future claims in this category to Mr. Andrew Coffinwhose agency handles this ~nsurance.
