HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-06-29June 22, 19S9 - continued: TELEPHONE BOOTH- Turnpike Street The board directed the New England Tel. & Tel Co. be con~acted in reference to action taken on board request for the installation of a public telephone booth on Turnpike Street, North Andover. The information received stated a telephone booth had been installsd at the Turnpike Motor Sales owned by Mr. Edward Saul. This information was relayed to Mr. Arthur Murphy, 22 Beacon Hill Blvd., petitioner for the tnstaltetion. This mee%ing was adjourned at 8:00 P.M. that the board might attend the Special Town Meeting of this date an the High School Auditorium. June 29, 19~9 The Board of Selecn~en met on this date with ~ members present sad (hsirman Finck presiding. The meeting commenced at 7:30 P.M. STREET LIGHTING - Sutton & 0ourt Streets Merrimack-Essex Electric Cm. recommendations for improved street lighting in the vicinity of the William Welsh residence on Sutton Street were adopted unan- imously by the board upon motion of Mr. Sutcliffe seconded by Mr. Finneren. JOINT POLE LOCATION Upon motion of Mr. Finneran seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe and voted unanimous, permission Was grsated the Merrimack-Essex Electric Co. and New England Tel. & Tel. CO. on their petition for Joint ownership of emisting (8) light company poles on Johnson Street. Stone Wall - Mass. Ave. & Osgcod Stree~ Chairman Finck read letter of reply from Mr. Mitchell M. Segal of 730 Mass. Ave. relative to board request tha~ a stone wall bordering his pz~perty be' t~pered off at the intersection of Nassachusetts Ave:aue end'Osgoed Street. Mr. Segal requested information as to the point of leveling off and to what height. He was also interested in the e~oense involved. Chairman Finck suggested the board await receipt of report on traffic conditions at said intersection from the Department of Public Works before advising Mr. Segal. The board directed a letter to Mr. Segal stating Mr. Finck's suggestion sad expressing appreciation for cnnsideration shown. DEPARtmenT OF P~BLIc WORKS - Spruce Tree Mr. Finck mentioned a Spruce tree at the intersection of Park Street and Chickering Roadwas an impairment to visability at this location. He suggested a latter be sent to the Department of Public Works requesting removal of the tree to improve visability. Mr. Finneran made this a motion seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe and voted unanimous. STR~T .LIGHTING Mr. Finneran stated he had received a request from Mrm. Ne~nedy of Great Pond Road that a street light pole be relocatad near their residence as the driveway entrance isto be changed and the pole will require relocation to enable con- structian of a new entrance. Mr. Sutcliffe motioned the electric company be requested to make a survey and recommendation on the matter. Mr. Finnersa seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. PC~ICE DEPARTMENT Mr. Finnersa mentioned he had received a complaint of speeding along Elm Street and suggested the Chief of Police be requested to check the area and report his findings to the board. CC~TY CENTERS, INC. - Parade Mrs. J. Edmond El~ott telephoned an invitation to the Board of Selectmen to participate in the Fourth of July parade starting at the Cent~ area at 2:30 P.M. The Board stated they would make a sincere effort to attend. S~ER SCHEDULE - Board Meetings Upon motion of Mr. Finneran, seconded by Mr. SutcLiffe and voted unm~mous, the board iniilated s summer schedule of meetings to take place on alternate Mondays during the summer months. Next meeting of the board will take place two weeks from this evening on July 13, 1959. MEET~ ADJOURNED: Upon motion of Mr. Finnersa seconded by Mr. Sutclif~e and voted unanimous, this meeting was called to a close.
