asked if Calvin Snell would have any objection to the change. Chief Daw
stated there is a possibility~,~. Snell could be appointed a Dep. Chief.
and would be satisfied with such. Mr. Fimck stated he has no objection
to the change as long as no personnel are effected. Mr. Finneran su~gesm-
ed Town Counsel be asked to advise on the set up and put his recommend-
ation in writing. Discussion took place on the status of the Chief under
the proposed change and it was concluded the Chief of the Fire Department
would remain the sane.
MEETING ADJOURNED
Upon motion of Mr. Sutcliffe seconded by Mr. Finneran and voted unanimous,
this meeting was adjourned am 9:00 P.M. and next meeting of the board
~ms setup for Friday evening, October 9, 1959 at 7:00 P.M., due to the
Columbus Day holiday on October 12.
October 9, 1959
The Board of Selectmen met on this date with all members present and
Chairman Finck presiding. The meeting commenced at 7:30 P.M.
BOSTON &MAINERAILR0~D - Grade Crossings
Chairman Finck read letter from the Boston & Maine Railroad stating repairs ~:~ ._LuL
at Elm, High and Sutton Street grade crossings have been completed. The
letter was accepted as received,
LAWRENCE GAS COMPANY
Upon motion of Mr. Sutcliffe seconded by Mr. Finneran and voted unanimous
Lawrence Gas Company was granted permission to excavate on High Street
to repair a gas leak.
STREET LIGHTING
The board accepted a notice of a stree~ light installation at the corner
of Greene Street and Waverley Road.
CHAPTER 90 - Dale Street
ChairmanFinckread Department of Public Works approval of payment of
$1,287.O0 by the Town of NorthAndover to Del Ducan Construction Co.
for work to date on Dale Street under present contract #17560. Upon
motion of Mr. Finneran seconded by Mr. Sutcltffe and voted ~nanimous,
the board voted to make payment as recommended.
GROUP INSURANCE
The board voted to refer request by Sup't. of Schools Douglas A. Chandler
for interpretation of the eligibility regulations governing participation
by part-time employees in the Town group insurance plan to Town Counsel
for legal opinion. The board directed a letter to Mr. Chandler advising
him of the above action of the board.

A!lmembers of the Board of Selectmen met on this date. Chairman Finck
called the meeting to order a~ 7:30 P.M.

Upon motion of Mr. Finneran secod~ed byMr. Sutcliffe and voted unanim-
ously, m license to carry firearms was granted Mr. Edward Schorman of

CHAPTER 90 - Dale Street
The board accepted a letter from the Department of Puhlic~orks~stating
Selectmen's request for an extension of the contract for Chapter 90 Work
on Dale Street am present contract prices had been disuussed with the
contractor and the department was awaiting his reply.
