The regular meeting of the Board of S~lectmen was held on this date with all members present,
Selectmen Finneran, Kirk and ~affy, Jr. The warrant was approved as submitted.
POLE LOCATIONS:
A hearing was held on the petition for 26 pole (Joint) locations on Lacey St. The Board voted
to take said petition under advisement, as Tree Warden opposed the locations.
A hearing was held on the petition to install one duct on Farnum Street. The Board approved
the petition
Petitions for 3 Joint pole locations held over from Jan. 27th meeting was approved by the
Board when Mr. Casey (Tel.) explained they were for maintenance.
STREET LIGH~SURVEYS:
Street light surveys were approved for installation of improved street lighting on Turnpike
St., at Johnson St., vicinity of Boston Ski TowHill and on 657 Bradford St., vicinity of
Mr. Masurenko .... ~
N~/POLICE STATION:
Copies of letter to Landers, Electrical C o. E~omBContractor,~Fred Delisio, was received.
'Horace James, of Thomas Pearson Associates$ ~e~'ae~ a signed recommendation from ~e ~ameS
for a drinking fountain for the new police station.
COMPLAINT:
· Mr. &Mrs. Lloyd Bruce sent a letter complaining of continuous trashha~el burning loca{ed
on edge of street, corner of their property. The Board referred the complaint to the Housing
Authority.
SURPLUS NILITARYEQUIPMENT:
A notice receivedof the advanCe sale'0f surplus military equipment was referred to John
Farrell, Civil Defense Director.
The Board voted to send their sympathy and condolences to the family of Charles W. Davis,
of Wenham, Mass. who was a past president of the Mass. Se2ectmen's Association.
FREE CASH:
Notice of Free Cash for the to'n in the amount of $153,915. was sen~ to the Board from the
Director of Accounts, Arthur MacKinnon.
ADJUDICATION OF STREETS:
Hearings for application for adjudication, of streets will be held ohM arch 3, at 7:30 P.M.
SITE:
Selectman ?inneranmade a motion that a letter be sen~ mo Secretary of Defense and. President
'Ni~on to request proper authority to stop action on missile site until the Gover~mnts' inten-
tions were made clear to the Board and townspeople. He deplored the "vagueness of their
policy and stated that the the area should not be further ruined until purpose is made known
that work should be halted immediately. Mr. Finneran's motion was tabled as there was
tot he motion. As a result, no resolution was made by the Board . Mr. Finnenan
also stated that before construction was begun, the Army officials in charge assured the -
that the rights of the North Andover people would be considered and protected..To date,
people were not informed before construction began.

COMMUNITY ANTENNA TEL. SYSTEM:
on a petition for 'cable television in North Andover was held on this date. Present
petitioners William Lucey, Jr., Irving Rogers, Jr. from the Eagle Tribune. After consider-

POLE INSTALLATIONS oN LAcEYSTREET:
The petition for installation of 26 poles on Lacey Street, tabled from last night'S meeting,
~s tabled for another week until recog~aendations had been received from other departments.
SCOUTS:
Shield and Scott Alexander filled in the honorary positions of Chairman of the Board of
and Licensing Board to commemorate Government Day and the beginning of Scout Week.
STATION DP~NKING FOUNTAIN:
.race James, Architect, sent the requi~ed written recommendation for a drinking fountain for
the new Police Station. The letter was referred to Chief Lawlor and Selectman Arthur P. Kirk.
