Selectmen
held their regular meeting on this date with Salectman~r~siding as
Chairman in the absence of Chairman Duffy, who was delayed with other commS~aments. Selectman
William A. Firmeran was present as Licensing Chairman and Selectman. The Warrant was approve
as submitted. Mr. Duffy appeared at 8:00 P.M.
POLE HEARING:
A hearing was held on the petition to locate 3 joint poles on Johnson St., Approximately
1235 feet s.c. of Farnum St. The Board approved the petition unanimously.
STREET INSTALLATIC~S:
Notice was received by the Board that street lights had been installed on Route 114 and
633 Turnpike Street.
Street light surveys sent by the electric company for 59 Church St. and 155~ Turnpike Street
were approved by the Board and voted their installation. The Board also requested a survey
be made for improved street lighting on First Street.
Regional Vocational Technical High School:
A letter advising the Board of plans of the above-named school re funds for needed additions
to said school was tabled until May 5, 196~ meeting.
INSURANCE:
An automobile Combination Policy (Globe Indemity) was received from the R. C. Lafomd Ins.
Agcy. and approved for payment subject to his signature of approval.
A letter from Town Accountant~ David Roche, re a Lumbermens Mutual Insurance. Co. audit was
referred to Selectman William A. Finneran ~o be discussed at the next departmmnt head meet-
lng.
~TIFICATE GF INCORPORATI~:
Recommendations were requested for John J. Good, 62 Farnham St. and Richard Hart Harri~g~on
68 Highland View Ave. members of newly formed Nerrimack Valley Rchabilit~tton Foundation,
Inc. The request was referred to Chief Lawlor for character references.
S~IER D. CHARM & ASSOCZATES:
~he Board received a letter, from the above-named re technical assistance. They voted to
refer the letter to the planning Board and personnel Board for ~arther study.
BUILDING C~DE APPEALS C~ITTEE:
After conferring with the Building Inspector, the Board voted to appoint on Nay ~th, a
Building Code Appeals Committee.

N~N POLICE S~ATI~:
A letter (copy) to architects, Thomas peamson Associates from Norbert Borell, Steel Art. Co.
re payment of services on new police station was referred to the architect, Horace James.
Selectman Kirk stated e few moro items on the building had to be completed including extra
blinds for back cf the building and a larger cupola.
SIDNdALEB:
Representative paul Crouin conferred with the Board on letter from J. Berkover re install-
ation of sidewalks on (bickering Rd. and Osgocd Street. He stated that he asked that the
district revise estimates and when the new fiscal year starts and additional funds put in,
the North Andover sidewalks would be first on the list for state construction.
The Board also asked Mr. Cromin if he would investigate state assistance in the construction
of town wading pools.
C~GRESSMAN BATES:
A letter was sent to Congressman Bates to wish him a speedy end complete recovery from his
illness. Zt was noted also in the letter that he has been always the most cooperative of
all legislators when the Selectmen needed advice and aid for the Town of N~rth Andover and
a most warm and personal friend.
STOP & GO LIGHTS:
J. Berkover was requested to have Stop & Go lights installed at the intersection cf Rt. 114
and Waverley Road whe~ reconstruction of Rt. 114 begins. It was called to his attention
once more that this intersection is the scene of continuous, cross-traffic and a very,
necessary safety traffic measure was the installation of these lights.
