GOVERNOR'S PROCLAMATION:
The Board received formal proclamation of primary and regular election (special) to be held
on August 26 and September 30 to fill vacancy left by Congressman Bate's death.

INSURANCE STATEM~NT:
The Board received the above-named and referred matter to R. Lafond, Town Insurance Agent and
a copy was voted to be sent to David Roche, To~nAccountant.
CERTIFICATES OF INCORPORATIC~ (2):
The Board received and referred the above to Chief Lawlor for character references.
GAS EXCAVATIONS:
Petitions to emcavate for gas services on 53 Bay State Rd. and el AutranAve. were approved by
th~ Board. The petition on 680 Great Pond Rd. was tabled for further study.
G~APTER 90 WORK:
TWo statements of Chapter 90 work contracts t/24860 and 2~72~ approved by the DPW were referred
to the Highway Surveyor. Also, a statement of work completed on Salem St. by George Brox,
contractor were received end referred to ~.the Highway Surveyor.

Appointed, a renewal, for the above-named title, was Robert Goldberg, 29 Spruce St., Lawrence,

CONDUIT PETITIONS: ~

The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date with all members present.
The Warrant was approved as submitted.
~URORS DRAWN:
Two. JUrors drawn for October 7 sitting at Salem were Madeline Donovan, 22 Ashland St. and
Charles Whittaker, 69 Milk St. It was learned afterwards that Mrs. Donovan was disQualifed
because she had served on Jury Duty within the last three years. 0~ Friday, September 12th
in the presence of Chief Lawlor, Town Clerk, John J. Lyons, supervised by Selectmen Finnaran
and Secretary Alice Letarte, as witness, the substitute name of Doroth~Arsena~lt, 26 Allen St.
was drawn.
HEARiNGS:
Petitions of the New England Tel. & Tel. Co. wer~ approved by theBoard to install underground
conduits and lO manholes on Sutton and Main Streets. The approval of the Board was subject
to the approval of the Board of Public Works, Police Dept. and Highway Dept. to which they
were referred.
Petition of Mass. Electric CO. to install underground electric conduits on Farnum St., was
set for a Hearing on Sept. 22, 1969, at 7:3~ P.M.
