Selectman Duffy, Jr. was absent. The warrant was approved as submitted. JURORS DRAWN: Mr. Kirk drew the uame of Ridgeley B. Underwood, 153 Dale Street, for the June i sitting at Salem. He then drew the following names for the June 15th sitting at Superior Ct. at Salem: Carleton D. Wilson, 204 Mill. Rd .... Yvette B. Dudley, 36 Parker St .... Peter A. Piantidosi, 33 W. Woodbridge Rd. On Thursday, May 7, 1970, Selectman Kirk drew another name to replace Yvette B. Dudley who has moved out of town. The replacement was John R. Wilson, 257 Middle- sex Street. The drawinE was witnessed by Chief Lawlor, Selectman's Secretary, Alice Letarte and acting Town Clerk, Erline Lyons. SENIOR CITIZEN'S MONTH: Officers of the Council of Aging convened in the Selectmen's Office to hear Chairman Finneran read the Proclamation submitted by Chairman James McDonald to announce the month of May as Senior Citizen's Month. Selectman Kirk and Chairman Finneran greeted the group and Mr. Finneran stated that the group had donated a new flag which was now flying in front of the Town Building. He welcomed them with warm wishes for a successful, pleasant month in the programs they have planned. Selectman Kirk also congratulated the Senior citizens and wished them as succe. ~ful Arts & Crafts show, scheduled for May 18 to the 23rd, as they had last year. Pictures were taken of the group by reporters. SPECIAL TOWN MEETING ~EQUEST: Peter Garofoli, Secretary to the School and School Building Com~vtee and two members of the Committee appeared before the Board requesting a Special Town Meeting for three articles which were submitted. Another Article ~as submitted during the course of the meeting. The two-man Board voted to table the date of a Special Town Meeting until the following week when a full Board was present. MCCARE CONPLAINT: Mr. McCabe made an appearance re his complaint of one Mr. Smith parking commercial vehicles in a residential area on Frontage Street. The Chairman stated that they had received a report from the Building Inspector and read the report to Mr. McCabe. Chairman Finneran added that they had requested the Building Inspector to make a further investigation and to report the results at next meeting. Town Counsel had also been contacted. STREET LIGHTING: A survey was approved by the Board for improved street lighting r~t ll Sylvan Terrace and directed said light to be installed. T hey also voted to have surveys made on Old Clark St. a.~ at the corner of Longwood Ave. and Chestnut Street. LAWRENCE-NORTH ANDOVER BOUNDARY LINE: In answer9 to the Board's request, Town Counsel sent a letter stating that the Lawrence City Engineer is contacting the state Department of Public Works to expedite the resolving of said boundary line. Chairman Finneran stated that this is the year the Board is required to per- ~ambulate the town and city bounds, the invitation to come from the senior city, or town. He also expressed his sympathy for Harry Cole, a Selectman for 56 years, who is seriously ill. Mr. Cole has perambulated the bounds for 56 years, with other town and city officials. REPORTS AND INVITATIONS RECEIVED: Equitable distribution of city and town taxes from Governor Sargent. Air Pollution Regulations from Mass. Dept. of Public Health. Voc Schbol Minutes of Meetings. Mamorial Day Parade and Ceremony participation, May 25th. Board will participate. Graduation-Award dinner, Voc School, Nay 20. Secretary to remind Board of date. Conflict of Interest conference, Merrimack College, May 5. Town Counsel will attend. Reality Drug Abuse program, Open House, May 6-7. Selectmen Finneran and Kirk will attend. 56th Annual Open House, Essex Aggi, Nay 3. Luncheon meeting, B on Secours, Disaster program. Referred to J. Farrell. Preconstruction conference, Rt. 495, Nay 13, DPW, Danvers. Referred to Highway Surveyor. Stevens Mill: ..... Announcement was received that some of the-production facilities at the Stevens Plant in North Andover will be discontinued by the end of June. This action will affect approximately 225 employees.. This action is brought about by the continued flood of imports from low wage foreign countrmes; by the general slowdown in the economy and by changes in customer demands for other type fabrics. Common Victualer, Christos RAzakis (ice cream wagon) 2axi-cab (1) Daniel 200 Sutton St. Letters of approval from Johnson Street residents for student hel& Burbank residence at 88 Johnson Street were receivedby the Board.
