Selectman McEvoy stated that 20 outside lights were on from 7 to 7 and was quite urmecessary. Lights would be adequate from 8 P. M. to 12 midnite. Board authorized Mr. McEvoy to meet with the department heads at the garage. AUTOMATIC ELECTIO~: Selectman Ceady stated that it would be wise to set up a meeting after Town Neeting to in- vestigate the advantages of installing, automation during elections. Board will contact Andover Assistant To~rn Manager for information on the matter. BICENTENNIAL: Board authorized the Chairma~ to contact Peter V. Rossiter, Chairman of the Bicentennial Con~ittee, to mee~ with the Board on Tuesday, April 13, for a progress report of the town's observances during the coming months. Secretary Alice M. HEARING: COACH~L~N'S LANE: The Selec~en approved the petition of Benjamin Osgood to accept Coachman's Lane as a Town Way. Letters 'received by the Public Works, Highway Surveyor and Planning Board. Order of Lay Out was given to Town Clerk for filing. Unanimous vote. BICENTENNNIAL R~POE~: Peter V. ~ossiter, Chairman of Bicentennial Committee, appeared before the Board with a progress report of coming events. He stated 300 tickets had been sold of 600 for the Ball. 'Continuous events have been scheduled for July 3, beginning with the Parade through july 4 which will take in many events...games, races, dancing, entertainment and chickern barbecue. He stated that the committee had worked long and hard and the events should be a success. Best hands in the state have been hired for the parade, together with floats from the town. GR. LAWRENCE SANITARY DISTRICT: Letter from Donald A. George advised the Board of E.P.A. approvals of Sewer Use Ordinance and User Charge System that must be obtained before Federal Grants can be obtained. He stated that North Andover's Sewer Use Ordinance had been approved but, to date, the town's User. Charge System had not been approved. TOWN GAP~GE LIGHTIng: REQUEST FOR FUNDS: Report received from electrician, John Thompson, advising Board of the reduction in lighting at the new Town Garage. The Selectmen voted to request a transfer of funds from the Reserve Fund in the amount of $8,240. to pay bills of the town garage and town building through the months of April, May and June. INSURANCE CONMITTEE: Town Treasurer advised the Board that the present Insurance Co~nittee should~ be reappointed or a new member committee appointed as extremely important matters re increased coverage of town employee insurance should be determined. Board voted to send letters to present members requesting they indicate whether or not they wished to continue serving on the Board. TOWN GARAGE OPEN HOUSE: Board voted to have the Department Heads and the Selectmen to serve as a C~,m.~ttee for the new Town Garage Open House. Letter with this information will be sent to Richard H. Harrington, Chairman of the Facilities Committee. GAS CONPANY: Board voted to send a letter of thanks and appreciation to the Law. Gas Company, attention J. Morkeski, for services rendered, free of charge, at the new Town Garage. G~AVE MARKERS, FLAGS: ~ Selectman McEvoy advised the Board that the flags on the Veterans graves were in poor conditio and should be replaced. Board req~sted he contact the Graves Registration Officer, Ed. Bards--- ley, on the matter. W.T.WETRO~IC VOTING: A brochure received from Andover Asst. Manager re electronic voting machines. the possibi2ity of having the system in North Andover will be discussed. After Town Meeting RECEIVED: .~ Letter received from Benjamin Osgood requesting withdrawal of zoing' Article in Town Warrant. Board stated Article can be withdrawn at town meeting, April 24. Conservation Restriction, approved by Town Counsel, executed by Selectmen. Letter from Mass. Bay Transportation Authority. Filed. Letter from Gr. Law. Community Action Council, Inc. re lead poisoning. P~ferred to Bd. of Health. Reports, quarterly, received from Building Inspector, Gas Inspector and Electrical Inspector.
