regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date with all members present:
Selectmsu Joseph A. Guthrie, Atty. William B. Dully, Jr. with Chairman Arthur P. Kirk presiding.
The minutes and warrent were approved as submitted.
BURIED CABLE HEARING:
The Board approved a petition of New England Tel. & Tel. Co. to place 96 feet of buried cable
on Colgate Drive.
STREET LIG~S ~
A street light survey for 109 S,,q~ivan Street was received by the Board. The survey was
tabled until a town-wide survey, now being processed, is received from the ~alecti~c company.
A request to have a street light shade installed on pole 5025, vicinity of the residence of
Richard Bowman, ~ Lisa Lane was a~proved by the Board. A call to the electric company will
be made to this effect.
JURORS:
Drawn for the July 12 Sitting, at Salem, were: Thomas Dufresne, 50 Lincoln St. - Joseph
~iarrusso, 58 Marblehead St. - William Whittaker, ~2 Saunders Street. Drawn for June 21
sitting, at Salem, was Joseph Pyteraf, 98 Adams Street, .forthwith."
VOC SCHOOL:
The Board of Selectmen were invited to the ,ground-breaking" ceremonies at Voc School,.Tuesday,
June 8, at 5 P.M. ~ buffet luncheon would be served. Selectman Guthrie stated ~hat he could
make it.
Restaurant: ·
Carroll's Selectmen were invited to the Grand 'Opening of Carroll's 'Restaurant, ~ike.St.
The Board of
on Saturday, June 12.~ (Secretary was also invited) Chairman X~rk will operate the cas
register for an hour. Whatever cash receipts he takes in, Carroll's Restaurant will match
the same s~uu. Mr. Kirk will donate total sum to favority charitable organization~..

The Board received a copy of a let~e~'sent to David Rermie and Donald Boyle re a 'violation of
the Zoning By-Law. Mr. Renuie was advised that he could sell 'farm produce but could~not sell
flowers, shrubs, 'trees, packaged fertilizers, garden supplies, etc. They were 'told~they were
to'dispose of present stock and unless the Zoning Board of Appe-qa g .rants them a variance ,of
the By-Laws, the Building Inspector would have to proceed with the necessary legal.action to
prohibit the sale of anything other than farm produce at'their location, 200 Chickering 1~.~
::KITE FESTIVAL:
David Parent, Director of the Community Center, sent the Board the r~uested letter to~uSe'
the Town ~arm ama for a Kits Festival on Sunday, June 27. The Chief of Police verbally approved
the request. A letter was directed by the Beard tc Be sent to Mr. Parent advising him of the
Board' s approval.
