The 'Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting ~n this date with all members present;
Selectmen Joseph A. Guthrie, William B. Duffy, Jr. with Chairman Arthur p. Kirk presiding.
TOWN NEETi'NG WARRANT:
The Beard declared the warrant opened for submission of articles in the annual Town Meeting
at ~8:50 p.m., this date, to be closed at 12:00 noon of January 8, 1972.
FUEL OIL BIDS:
Bids were opened on this date by the Board; ~wo were submitted; J.A. Leone & Sons, Inc.
and the lowero bidder of the ~wo bids, Cyr 0il Co., who was awarded the emtract. They will
be so notified.
GASOLINE BIDS:
One bid was submitted from Gulf Oil Company who was awarded the contract mo supply gasoline
to the town departments.
BUKTED' gABLE:
A~hearing was set for a petition to install buried cable on Summer Street on December 6, 1971,
at 7:30 P.M
ALL NIGHT PA~(ING BAN:
The Board~ voted ~o advertise the annual winter all might parking ban to effective Dec. 1, 1971
12:O1 A.M.~ to~ continue until March. The ban w4~1 be lifted Christmas Eve and New Year's eve
weather permitting. The ban will be advertised November 29 an~ 30.
SKATING RINX REQUEST:
A letter, signed by numerous Thomson school students, was received by the Board. The letter
requested a skating rink to be insta~ed on the school playground. The Board voted to refer
the letter to'the Recreation Council % Bill McEvoy, Public Works department for their commen~s
and recommendations on the request.
S~REET~ LIGHTS:
The' Board vo~ed to have street light surveys made for 222 Bradford Street and Buckingham Boad.
John Pare, Mass. 'Electric Co., requested a meeting date with Board to discuss town s~ree~ light
survey. The Board voted to meet on December 6, 1971, at 8:00 p.m.
E~E.A. EMPLOYEES Hi.RED:
The Board approved the hiring of three employees under the E.E.A. Lucien Clermont, Tree Dept.
Trainee, Frederick Smith, Park and Grounds Caretaker Trainee and Mrs. Anthony Leo, Custodial
Matron for Nigh School.
1BLUE CROSS=BLUESHIELD:
The town insurance committee appeared before the Board to ask the support of the Selectmen on
the referendum question to appear on the ballot whichwillask the town's Deople to vote ~'..~:~
on increased payment of Blue Cross-BluegShteld and employee insurance. The Board voted to
support the referendum subject to veto or confirmation of the Personnel Board. The Chairman
was authorized ~ contact the Personnel Board on the matter. The subject was tabled until
November 29 meeting.
PERSONNEL BOA~D:
A Ietter was received from the PersOnnel Board requesting uniform expense account of Police
and Fire department personnel. The Board voted to request a report for November 29 from Chief
Lawlor and~h~f Daw.
