The Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting, though brief, on this date with all mem-
bers present. The warrant was approved as submitted.
GAS EXCAVATI0~:
The following gas excavation petitions were approved:
1. To repair gas mains: 56 Gr. Pond Rd. - 145 Johnson St.
2. To install service: 303 Hillside Rd.

POLE PETITIONS:
A petition to re~ove,!:l pole on Johnson Street was approved...also approved, a petition to
transfer existing poles on Johnson Street.
A hearing was set up for June 26, 1972 meeting for petition of a pole and wire location on
Chickering Road.
EEA FUNDS:
The B card was informed that additional funds are available from E.E.A. Jack Erle will
submit a proposal on June 19 re the possibilityof hiring three laborers for litter clean up.
The Board announced that the next meeting will be held on June 19, at 7:30 P.M., in the
Selectmen's Office. They then adjourned to attend the Special Town Meeting at 7:30 P.M.

The Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date ~_th al3 members present~

were approved as submitted.
DPW MEETING:
A notice from DPW Commissioner, Bruce Campbell, advised the Board of important meeting on
June 22, at 2. P.M. in his office re School Committee requests for traffic safety improve-
ments on Rt. 125, vicinity of the new High School. Selectman Guthrie and Chief Lawlor will
attend.
HAROLD ST. STOP SIGN:
A Stop sign amendment for the permanence of the Stop Sign installed for Ha=old Street, at
Marblehead Street was signed by the Board and sent to the District Highway Engineer, Jacob
Berkover.
MEMORANDUM OF AGRE~2~ENT: S~.~M ST. CHAPTER 90:
A,'~morandum of Agreement for the improvement of Salem, Foster and Johnson Streets was
by Selectman J. Gutbrie and Chairman Kirk on Guthrie's motion that the Chairman proceed to
allocate funds that were voted on by the townspeople for the reco,n~truction of Salem Street.
Selectman Duffy disagreed and suggested a non-partisan study co~,m..ttee be formed to look into
the best way of sperling Chapter 90 funds. Selectman Guthrie stated that he had no objection
to the study, group as a long-range program, however: the townspeople did indicate their in-
terest in the continuation of the reconstruction of Salem Street and made the above-stated
motion which was seconded by Chairman Kirk. It was a majority vote as Selectman Dully voted
against the motion. Duffy then made a motion that a study committee be formed to review
priorities for future expense on road maintenance. The motion was seconded and it was unan-
imous. The committee will be appointed at a later date. The Memorandum of Agreement was
sizned by Selectman Guthrie and Chairman Kirk.
A letter received from N. Hicetta: Hishway Surveyor, urged the Board to tak6 the necessary
steps to have this year's funds assigned so that bids may be called for another contract for
the reconstruction of Salem Street. He stated that Chapter 90 funds from 1970 ($40,000.)
and 1971 funds ($46,000.) should be sufficient to enter into another contract.
GAS EXCAVATION: ~
A petition was approved to excavate for a gas service at 295 Mass. Avenue.
POLE PE~ITIONS:
Three pole petitions were approved, subject to clarification of reasons~
Streets.

A hearing was set for a bm~ied cable petition on East Water Street and Chickerins Road for
July 10, 1972~ at 7:30 P.M. Abutters will be notified.
POLE &WIRE lOCATION:
A petition for a pole & wire location on Marb!eridEe Rd., formerly tabled, was corrected ~nd
approved by the Board.
