HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-02-23Planning Boar4 Workshop Meeting Selectmen,s Meeting Room February 23, 1993 The meeting was called to order at approximately 7:10 p.m. Members Preseat George Perna, present was Development. Chairman, Joseph Mahoney and Richard Rowen. Also Karen Nelson, Director of Planning and Community Discussion Hayes Stadium Lights The purpose of the discussion was to air concerns of the public and give recommendations. This is a courtesy meeting to discuss the proposed stadium lights in a public forum. The Stadium Light Committee is a subcommittee of the Field Committee. Paul Rodeer, member of the committee, presented the Board with the following information: lights for all sporting games allow High School students use increase receipts by using fields in the evenings, most likely Friday nights improve field conditions Mike Manning expressed concerns with noise and spectator safety. Mr. Rodeer will meet with the Police, Fire and D.P.W. to address safety issues. There will be four lighting poles, two on each side of the field. $40,000 C.I.P. by the School Committee was approved by the Board of Selectmen at their meeting of February 22, 1993. The Board reviewed plans presented as far as illumination is concerned. Joe Walsh stated that four hours of the police force will be available for night games. Light manufacturer has not been selected as of this date. Lights should be shut off by 9:30 p.m. A typical game brings 300-400 people. Mike Cavanaugh, football coach asked abutters what traffic is like today for day games. Public Hearin~ Cobblestone Crossing - Definitive Subdivision and special permit Peter Shaheen, an abutter was present. Also present was A1 Shaboo, engineer. Open space will be 35%. Mr. Perna stated that the development does not appear to be advantageous as a PRD. 1. more road 2. sells 1/2 size lots The lots near the "99" were questioned. PRD I alternative suggested by members of the Board. (2 zero lot line lots, Lot 3 & Lot 5) A site walk will be scheduled. Street lighting to be similar to Phillips Common, tied into a timer and homeowners will pay on their electric bills. A d~cision will be drafted for the next meeting for the Board to review. Dis Chatter~ee - 232 Sutton Street George Perna gave an update on his meeting with Anil Mehora and Karen Nelson. The owner has filed for a modification on the site plan. A letter will be sent to the developer, not allowing him to continue any further, otherwise he will be proceeding, going at his own peril.
