The Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date with all members present; Sel-
ectmen Coady and Kirk with Chairman G~thrie presiding. The warrant and minutes were approved
as submitted. The meeting began at 7 p.m.-adjourned at 7:1% for the Special Town Meeting-re-
convened in the High School Auditorium after the Special Town Meeting.
AETICLE IV:
The Board discussed Article 4 in the Special Town Meeting to be held at.7:30 p.m. Advisory
Board recommended $100,000. Selectmen did not concur - met with Advi.~ory Board immediately
thereafter and Jointly decided to recommend $85,000. to Special Town Meeting.
APPOINTMENT:
Upon$ the recommendation of Chief Lawlor, Francine Riordan, 26 Dana Street, was appointed a
Reserve School Crossing Guard.
HIGH. SCHOOL STUDENTS:
The N. A. School Committee sent a letter to the Board advising them and the N.A. Youth Council
that they had voted to discontinue use of the High School property to the students for recrea-
tion purposes. The Board voted to contact Chairman of the N.A. Youth Council, Frank Cunningham,
Sr., advising him to communicate with the N.A. School Committee if he wished to discuss subject
with School Committee at their July 11 meeting.
GAS EXCAVATION:
Approved: Gas excavation petitions to install gas service at 59 Lincoln St. and installation
of gas mains at Park & Main Streets and Sutton St.
CYR ASSOCIATES:
Approved: Request from Cyr ~oSSOciates use of the Town Forest Picnic area on Sept. 9, rain date
Sept. 16. Ail proceeds from outing will be used towards the annual Christmas Parade.
BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION:
Letter received re the Bicentennial Commission was referred to Robert Doucette, Chairman of the
Civic Holiday Celebration Co.,~dttee.
Letter re 1972 deficiency reimbursement to town in the amount of $70,311.47 was sent from
Board of Selectmen. The Board voted to send a telegram to Governor Sargent urging his
action on this deficiency item in the interests of the town's taxpayers.
ISTREET LIGHTS - HIGH SCHOOL A~REA.
Approved: street light survey sent by the Mass. Electric co., dated June 11, 1973, re street
lighting in the new High School area. Board will request the electric ampany to install same.
4TH OF JULY PAPADE:
Chairman Guthrie noted that the Board customarily participated in the 4th of July Parade and
requested Jack Erie to notify Kaps that thwy ~uld be in for tuxedos. Hats and Canes will be
obtained in HaverhiLl.
JURY LIST:
Jury list, submitted by Secretary, was approved by the Board. Lists will be sent to Clerk of
Courts, Philip J. Hennessey and to Town Clerk for processing.
AMBULANCE SERVICE MEET
Chairman Guthrie advised the Board that a meeting re improved amb,,!~nce service will be held
on July 20, at 'the BOn Secours Hospital, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Chief Daw and Board of Fire
Engineers will be so notified.
MUNICIPAL FACILITY BUILDING COMMITTEE:
The Board appointed the following to the Nunicipal Facility Building Committee: William A. Cyr
Joseph J. Borgesi, Leo E. Lafond, Hichard H. Harrington, Thomas H. Emmett and Robert Doucette.
LIC~SING COMNISSIONERS:
ASSOCIATES:
hearing was held on application from DBLAssociates to store 55 gals. litho solvent,
corner of Elm and Water Streets. It was unanimously approved.
GASOLINE STOP~.GE:
The Board set a hearing for July 9, 1973, at 7:30 p.m. on application from Daniel Olenio, to
store gasoline, above and underground at 11 Hiverview Street. Referred to Town Clerk for pro-
cessing. :
PARADE & CARNIVAL PERMITS:
The Board approved, subject to approval of Chief Lawlor, Parade~and Carnival p~rm~ts for Civic
Holiday Celebration Committee for period beginning June 29 thro~g~ July 4,~3. J /~
