Selectmen John ?. Coady, Joseph A. Guthrte with Chairman John P. Kirk presiding. The warrant
and minutes were approved as submitted.
MCGOVERN ASSOCIATES:
The selectmen granted permission to McGovern Associates to use the Town Farm picnic area for
their anm~,~ outing on June 2, rain date, June 9 with the us,~! stipulation that the grounds
be left in order. Chief Lawlor will be so advised.
EMEP~ENCY NO. 921.
Letters.from Chief Daw and Chief Lawlor stated that they approved of an emergency number but
they required further information on how it would act,~l ly function and posed several questio~
that had to'be answered until they coald make any constructive recommendations.
CEBTIFICATES OF INCOEPORATION:
References were received on members of the Merrimack Valley H~,me Care Agency, Inc. and Friends
of Challenge Rouse from Chief Lawior. They will be forwarded to the Secretary of State.
GULF OIL ALLOCATIONS:
The Selectmen received from Gulf Oil Co. the adjusted base period volume gasoline allocations
for 1974.
CML DEFENSE:
Tabled was the request of Civil Defense Director, John Coco, to appoint two,more Au~Lliary
Policeman.
NRS. ~2~ILY NURPHY:
A letter from the Council On Aging advised the Board of the appointment of Mrs. ~mily M~rphy
to the Board of Directors of the Merrimack Valley Home Care Agency, Inc. Pending recommenda-
tion from Town Counsel, the Selectmen will send approval of the committment of $1,700. for
Rome Care Services.
SULLIVAN CO)~LAINT:
Mrs. Rena S,~11~van, 267 Sutton St., compiained that her next door neighbor had not complied
with the orders of the Selectmen and Building Inspector to install a locked gate and a fence
around her swimming pooI. She stated it poses a danger to her three small children and other
children in the neighborhood. The Selectmen will refer the matter to the Building Inspector
and request report.
FF~CE PETITION:
Petition received from residents of East Water Street requesting the ins~l I ation of a fence
behind the Brookside apartments to prevent children from falling into deep, water-filled

MU.krlCIPAL CLERK'S WEEK: *
Upon request of Town Clerk, the Selectmen declared the week of Nay 13-18,"Nunicipel Clerk's
Week," and directed the Chairman to so proclaim the designated week.
FIREFIGHTERS:
The Selectmen voted to request, once again, a meeting with members of Local 2035 to discuss
proposed changes and amendments to the Labor Agreement between the town and the Firefighters.
The meeting was requested for a date after Nay lOt~.
NERP~R~CK VALLEY PIAN~TING CO~KSSION:
Copy of letter sent to John Willey,~ Environmental Section, from Executive Director, re future
land use in Salem Street area received and tabled by the Board.
Copy of notice to Highway ~urveyor from the Dept. of Natural Resources.
Notice of excavation at Holt Road by DiFruscio & Sons Construction Co. Copies sent to H.
Public Works and Chief Lawior.
Petition to excavate on Ferry Street to install gas .main. Approved by Board and depts.
AIRPO.~T FLIGHT PATTERNS:
Benjamin Perrone, ll Harold Street, appeared before the Board to complain of excessive noise
from planes going over Nass. Avenue area at 7:30 in the morning on weekends. The Selectmen
voted to write to Thomas Davies, Airport Manager, to request if the flight patterns could be
changed or varied.
LICENSING C0~E~ISSIONEBS:
Rearin$ was held on transfer of Restaurant, all alcoholic license from Shield's inc. to James
J. Winston, Individt~a~. Transfer was duly advertised and approved by the Board.
A~Iications for licenses to store gasoline, underground, from Haffnsr Realty Tr. and Borden
Chemical were set for hearings, Nay 13, at 7:30 p.m. Firechief approvsl requested.
Applications for renewal of'.Coz~on Victusler license for Cumberland Farms and Taxi Cab (6)
