HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-05-13 Board of Selectmen MinutesThe Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date with all members present; Selectmen Joseph A. Guthrie, John F. Coady with Chairman John P. Kirk presiding. The minut and warrant were approved as submitted. POLICE CAR BIDS: Upon request of Chief Lawlor~ the Board voted to advertise for bids on four police cars, one a compact car. Bids will be opened on May 28, 1974 at 7:45 p.m. SUTTON &HIGH STREETS: Chief Lawlor submitted six recommendations on the traffic situation at Sutton and High Sts. The Board approved 5 and sent No. 5 recommendation to the Highway Surveyor for his comments and recommendations as it concerned a proposed redesign of High Street. The recommendations were also sent to Andrew Coffin for his and the area resident's approval.., POLE IO~ATIO~: A petition for a Joint pole location on Salem Street was set for a hearing on May 20, at 7:3( p.m. A petition for several pole locations on Salem Street was approved, no hearing neces s ary. CML DEFENSE: A letter from John Coco indicated his wish to be reappointed Civil Defense Director. GAS EXCAVATION: A petition was approved for a gas excavation on Waverly Rd. Police Officer required. GR. LAW. S~_NITARY DISTRICT: A letter received from Camp, Dresser & McKee concerning Home Owner Sewer User charges. A meeting was set for May 16, at 9 p.m. with the Bd. of Assessors, Public Works, C~airman of GLSD, C. Parthum, Camp, Dresser & McKee and To~m Representative, John Finneran for dis- cushion of the matter. Ih~YITATIONB :' The Selectmen accepted invitation to attend the annual Gr. Law. Chamber of Coz~meroei dinner ~eetimg, May 30. Invitation to Solid Waste management seminar, June 5, was referred to Busby, Scanlon and Cyr. PERSONNEL BO~D: The Selectmen directed a letter be sent to the Bersonnel Board postponing meeting with them from Nay 23 to June 6. EMERGENOY )L1: Selectman Guthrie advised Board that he would get in touch ~rith Mr. Quigley, telephone co. to arrange a meeting with town Chiefs for further disc'.~ssion of the operation of the emer- gency number. S~PEENEY: Atty. Willis appeared before the Board an d arranged a meeting OhM ay 20, at 8:30 p.m. with Ben Sweeney, Chief Lawlor, Police Officer Roberts, Charles Foster and the Selectmen to dis- cuss Sweeney request to store Junk articles on North Main Street. YOUTH LEAGUE: Selectman Guthrie requested a letter of congratulations to be sent to ArbhurB. Costello, Coach of the Youth League, for their successful season, winning the Boy's Club Championship The Board sovoted. LIcENsING CO~SSIONEBS: . Petitions were approved for license to store plasticizer and fuel oil on 01d Clark Rd. for Borden Chemical Co. and storage of gasoline for ~affner's Service Station on Chickering Rd. APPOINTME~S: The Board requested letter be sent to appointees requesting they indicate their wish to be reappointed or not this year. SPECIAL TG.YN COUEBEL: Upon reco~endation of Town Counsel, the Board voted to appoint Atty. Jason Rosenburg, Spec. Town Counsel to represent the town's interest in the Boston & Mains bankruptcy act.
