Selectmen Joseph A. Guthrie, Thomas J. NcE~oy with Chairman John F. Coady presiding. The
minutes and warrant were approved as submitted.
JUROR:
Angelo J. LoPiano, 62 Autran Avenue, was drawn for Jury duty, at Newburyport, for April 7.
PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS:
Copy of letter ~to Arnold Salisbury, Town Counsel, from John E. Sheehy, Director of the Eight
of Way Bureau received re the Pedestrian Overpass. He stated his appreciation for the co-
operation o'f town officials during the endless preparation for the overpass. Construction
was scheduled to begin in early April and it will not be held up in anyway.
APPOINTNENTS:
John J. Monteiro, Jr. was appointed the alternate member to the Merrimack Valley Planning
Board.
Vincent Turano was appointed a menber of the Conservation Commission to fill vacancy created
by the resignation of Frank Lewis. Members of the Commission and the Selectmen convened
at 7:15 p.m. for the appointment...3 candidates were V. Turano, D. Kie~stead and H~ Finck.
SHEEP SHEARING CONTEST:
Letter received from Betsy Bahr, Merrimack Valley Textile Museum, requesting permission to
close off traffic on Mass. Ave., Between the intersections of Osgood and Andover Streets,
on Sunday, May 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. Permission granted subject to the approval of Chief
Lawlor who will be notified together with Chief Daw. The event is the annual Sheep Shea~ing
contest.
TROOP 82 - TOW~ FOREST:
Troop 82 Scoutmaster requested the use of the town forest for Troop 82 on April 4-5-6.
Permission granted and Chiefs Lawlor and Daw ~ill be so notified.
Letter from Div. of Waterways, Dept. of Public Works. Referred to J. Borgesi.
Letter from Paul lamprey pos~pening meeting until nex~ week re 208 funding program.
Classification and Minimum Wage Rates from Comm. of Labor & Industries, for Town Garage.
Cable TV applications. J. Wi2&is to peruse same and follow up.
Copy of letter from Mathuen re Gold Star luncheon. J. Coady to peruse., find out cost to town.
Walter Koh~ set up meeting with Selectmen, 7 p.m., March 31, 1975;
COUNTY ENGINEER:
Letter from W. Cyr, stated that the town had received the best of cooperation from County
Engineer, James Carlin, and recommended that the Board oppose legislation that would transfer
the powers and duties of the counties relating to highways to the Mass. Dept. of Public Works.
The Board voted to send letters to Senator Ruark and Representative Hurrell expressing the
Board's feelings on the matter and requesting their aid to defeat said 'bill. Copies of letters
sent to Mr. Carlin.
The Selectmen and Chief Iawlor met' in executive session to discuss the Rt. lla improvement
program.
LICENSING CONMIS~IONERS:
Application re request for transfer and certificate vote of Butcher Boy Steak House, inc. to
J. J. B. Corporation, Inc. received. Hearing was set for April 7, 1975, at 7:40 p.m. Abutters
to be notified ~ hearing advertised.
