which was seconded that, in the event the replies to all letters sent on the subject was nega-
tive, the Board send a request to the Advisory Board for sufficent money to pay the two employ-
ees until Town Meeting time. It was so voted.
EDk TITLE X FUNDING:
Letter received from Mayor of Beverly, James A. Vitale, re a meeting with Congressman Harrington
to expedite program fundings under EDA Title X. The Board instructed Staff Assistant, Joseph
Willis, to reply to say we are interested in attending the proposed meeting. They ~1] be re-
presented by J. Willis.
SPECIAL T~N COUNSEL:
Atty. John Ford, 300 Essex St., Lawrence, Mass., was appointed a Special Town Counsel to re-
present town in Local 64 labor negotiations. They also selected. 3 out of 7 factfindere sent
on list from the Dept. of Labor and Industries. Covering letter sent with selections.
Names referred to Atty. Ford.
FIREFIGHTERS UNION:
Letter from Atty. John J. Wi~l~e, Sr. advised the Board that he had been retained by the
N. A. Firefighters Union for the purpose of perfecting their rights under a contract dated
and executed on April 22, 1975 by Chairman 8oady, representative, of Bargaining unit for the
CAPITAL BUDGET APPT.:
Upon recomendatton of the above-named Committee, the Selectmen appointed Walter E. ~dorf,
851 Johnson St. to fill vacancy on the Committee. The vote was a majority vote; Selectman
McEvoy did mot vote.
HILBEET COMPLAINT:
Copy of letter to Kenneth Eilbert,.64 Patriot St., from Domenic R. DiVirgilio, Chief:~_Iz~rt
Engineer, advised him that at the present time, the marker beacon has been taken off the air
as of October 4. The fac!l:~ty will be turned on again in 3 or 4 weeks and that, after it has
been fine tuned, it should not give Hilbert any more TV interference.

EESSINA'A PARXtNG LOT:
Written permission from the trustees of San-Law Realty Trust received for the landscaping
done on portion of Messina's land bordering Main Street, opposite the Town B~. Beard auth-
orized a letter of thanks and appreciation be sent to Bud Cyr and his ~rife Stacia for the
exce~ ~ent Job done and to Stacia for donating the shrubs and trees.

Letter authorized to be sent to Town Treasurer advising their vote to have Nary C. Co .n~or,
Housing Clerk, to be enrolled in the town's Blue Cross-Blue Shield program. Housing Authority
will pay the expense of the enrollment.

Selectman Guthrie reported on the dinner meeting of the Mess. League of Cities & Towns. He
stated that preliminary studies are being planned to set up a for of gove~'~.mnt between State
~ locsl levels. Purpose to protect and ext end Home BUle of towns.
