FI.~.~IGHTE'.U S G~wXE~JANCES: Members of the Firefighter's local and Chief Daw met with the Selectmen to discuss grievance of the Firefighters. They claimed that they had been going to school, taking fire-related courses for two years and had not been reimbursed for payments they had made for registrations fees and other expenses they were entitled to per Contract signed by them and the Towu. Chief Daw was asked why they hadn't paid the men and he replied that the Board of Fire Eng- ineers had not approved the courses. ~en asked why they hadn't approved the courses taken at accredited schooo!s, he would not answer. This ~eeting occurred on January %, 1976 and it was finally agreed that the Selectmen and the Board of Fire Engineers ~oeld meet, at the Fire Station on this date, January 12, 1976, to resolve the grievance. PLA~ING BOApjo-HER~ORD I~TTER: Letter received from the Planning Board on the above-nkmed controvers~y was received for the files. Planning Board feels that if the intent of the pre.nosed memorandum of the Board of A~peals is to clarify the original decision, then the original decision should be revoked and a new one substituted so that the Tobin's ~ghts to equitably enforce the zoning by-laws will not be Jeopardized. They still maintain its decision to exercise its right to appeal. TO~E~! FA?J[ AREA: ~etter received from the Historical Cg~,,,.fssion re the disposal of the town farm .building. They proposed that the building be placed on the market for sale together with 2 Or 3 acres. Selectmen voted to ask T own Counsel if they had the right to dispose of said building, and will submit an Article in the Towu ~,~arrant if so reco~ended by Town Counsel. TOWN ARCHIVIST: Letter from the Historical Commission stated that a permanent, Town Archivist should be obtained to insure continuous preservation of Town records. Letter was forwarded to To~en Clerk for his recorm~endation. TRANSPOB2ATION OF THE ELDEBLY: State support for funding of the transportation of the Elderly and the handicapped was discussed. Selectman Coady will pursue the matter to make sure application for said fund- lng will be sent in time. F~CES -OVERPASS ARFA: Letter from Bud Cyr stated that the fence located in front of the Brookside Complex on the northerly side of Chickering Road was on State property and it interfered with his snow- plowing and plans for a sidewalk in that area. The B card voted to send letter to the District Highway Engineer for his recomendations. .~ECEIVED: Certification from Labor Relations Commission on Police Union. ' '~ Notice of town bonding of Town Treasurer and Town Clerk. Tabled until after election. Applications for appointment to Towa Data Processing Study Committee. Tabled until 1/19/76. Letter from Dept. of Housing & Urban Development. Copy sent to H. Authority and Public %~ks. Letter from Toxin of Saugus remembership on County Advisory Board. Letere to Senator Rarak and Rep. Hurrell asking support of Bill to have representation on Board other than Chairman of Selectmen. Beans Contract renewed by Camelot. Brought in by Bob Finneran. Mr. Guthrie advised Board that 100% Plans will be sent on the Overpass shortly. LICENSI~G CO~'~SSIO~S: Hearir~: Messina's Market, Inc. application for Ret. Pkg.
