FUEL TANK P~NPS & DISPeNSErS:

The Selectmen awarded the contract to furnish fuel tank pumps and dispensers for the new Town
Garage to Moore and Kling, Inc, 51 Melcher St., Boston, Mass. The company submitted the low-
est bid of three, $3404.40. Letters will be sent to Moore and Kling and two other companies
who submitted their bids.
CHIEF LAWLOR:
Two requests received from Chief Lawlor: 1. 'Requested street light installation in the vicin-
ity of Alexander MacGregor's place of business on Saville St. 2. Requested letter be sent to
District Highway Engineer for advice on the legality of parking in area opposite Butcher Boy
Steak House. It was so voted.
FdBLIC WORKS VACANCY:
Setter received from Board of Public Works re vacancy on their Board caused by death of Arthur
Drummond. Requested necessary action be taken to fill vacancy. Papers filed by retiree of
Public Works, George Sanford, for March 22nd election. ! Selectmen voted to send letter to
Arnold Ss.Tisbury for advice on whether vacancy to be filled for the r~,Mning month or could
the ma~ter bepostponed until election time. Letter cf sympathy sent to Mrs. Drummon and
FACTFINDING MEETING-LOCAL 2035:
Letter from Atty. Ford requesting location for factfinding meeting scheduled for March 19.
Selectmen advised letter to be cent to Ford...meeting to be held in the Selectmen's Office,
at 9:30 A.M.
ESSEX CTY. ADV. BD. REPRESENTATION:
Letter from Senator Rarak stated he would like to meet with the Selectmen to discuss the
above-named matter. Selectmen voted to advised him that they would meet with him any
Monday night at 7 P.M or on another date which is conveni eh% to him.

Letter from Town Counsel advised Board that Mrs. Lewis,s problem...blockage of a~ paper street.
is a personal problem and can not and does not concern the town. He recommended that he seek
the advice of her own Counsel. Selectmen directed a letter and a copy of T own Counsel,s
be sent to Mra. Lewis.
DOGS = NSPCA:
Letter from President of the MSPCA advised Board of inhumane method of doing away of unwanted
dogs ~ listed drugs that shouldn't be used. Board vexed to send copy to Dr. Bulger, town
Anima! Inspector and Dog Officer, Mr. Gauthier.

WA.RRAET OPENED:
At 8:~6 P.M. Selectmen opened warrant to include 2 Articles relating to having the town vote
the position of "Administrative Assistant,, and the salary for same, $16,000. Warrant closed
at 8:57 P.M.
TOWN ARCHZVIST:
The Selectmen voted to contact the OE~A N~power office, by letter, enclosing a Job description
for a town archivist. This position w~ll substitute request for a. Staff Assistant, position
ithat could not be.f111 ed because of inadequate applicants.
MERRIMACK VALLEY R~IONAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY.V~v'
Selectman Coady reported that the town had been b~ed 'for expense share in the above-named
Authority and stated that the town had Joined the Authority on the premises that it would be
a member ~ithout any cost to the town. Assessment in the amount of $273.00 received. Board
voted to send letter to Town Con~.~el, with copy of letters from him and the Authority, request-
ing advice on the matter.
BOY & GIE~ BASKETR~LL TEA~:
Board voted to send letter of congratulations to the North ~dover Basketball teams and their
coaches for the fine season both had had and to wish them success in their coming meets.
TOWN BUILDING RENOVATIONS:
Selectman Coady stated that Pres. Ford had vetoed Federal re~mbursomants for municinal bldg.
renovations. It was agreed that a meeting must be scheduled with the Town Facf~lity' Committee
to determine office space use after Public Works and Highway Dept. move to the new town garage.
