Annette,
I have reviewed your request with Curt Bellavance, Community Development Director. Based on the information you
have provided regarding the nearest visible wetland flag it appears the scope of your work is outside of the 325' Non-
Disturbance Zone of the Watershed Protection District. You are authorized to cut down a maximum of 10—12 trees in
the area you identified in your email correspondence, the letter you proved on June 12,2014,and in the markings on a
map you made in our office. The stumps are to remain and there should not be any lawn expansion. if you have any
questions or concerns please contact out office. Thank you.

Hi Annette,
Would you please submit a letter to the Planning Department requesting the
removal of the ten trees on your property. The letter should include the
following information: The reason for the proposed removal, condition of the
trees, that the stumps will not be removed, whether there will be any regarding
or lawn expansion. Much of this information has been provided in various email,
however, we would like the information summarized in one letter. Based upon the
request submitted we can make a decision as to whether this request can be
approved within the Department or has to go before the Planning Board. If you
have any questions please contact me. Thank you.

approximate distance to the nearest wetland flag? If not, are the nearest flags
the ones near the drainage ditch along the cul-de-sac on Highwood Way?

>> I believe we spoke at the counter a few weeks ago. For lots created prior to
1994 there is a Non-Discharge Zone within the Watershed Protection District
(325' from edge of all wetland resource areas within the Watershed Protection
District) . You were going to measure the distance from the rear of your house
to the furthest tree you wanted to remove. Have you done that? Additionally we
would like to know how many trees you would like to remove and if you intend to
remove the stumps? I know that wetlands have recently been delineated around
your property. Do you know the approximate distance of the proposed tree
removal to the nearest wetland?

>> Hi Annette, for the Conservation Department, jurisdiction is within 100, of
wetlands (2001 of Riverfront) and your work as you have described it is more
than 1001 from the wetlands. So no filing is required with the Conservation
Department. I have copied Jean in the Planning Department on this and you will
need to confirm with her regarding the Watershed Protection District. What is
the total number of trees you are planning to remove?

>>> Hi Ms. Visconti, There are no wetlands within 100' of the area of trees you
want to remove, so you don't need conservation approval. However you are within
the watershed protection district which is managed by the planning board, and
unfortunately we don't have a town planner at the moment, but I did check with
the Planning Assistant and it appears to the best of our knowledge that you also
don't need planning board approval (since you are more than 400' from the lake
and more than 100' from wetlands that drain to the lake) . Basically I believe
you may proceed with the tree cutting.
