Re: Abbott Village -Nutmeg Lane cul-de-sac
The Planning Board reviewed Ben Osgood Jr's request to end Nutmeg Lane in a cul-de-
sac instead of connecting through to Salem Street. The Planning Board denied this
request due to the public safety, fire safety, and traffic flow needs in this area of Town.
Nutmeg Lane will provide a key connection between Abbott Street and Salem Street. The
board did agree to eliminate the grass strip between the road and the sidewalk at the
crossing. This will reduce the amount of filling necessary for the crossing. The pavement
width cannot be reduced as per an agreement with the Planning Board and the DPW
requiring that all connecting roads have a minimum width of 26'.

Dear Mr. Chairman:
Please accept this letter as a request to be heard at your next meeting in an informal discussion.The
subject of the discussion will be Abbott Village. Specifically,the conservation commission has asked the
owners of Abbott Village to ask the planning board if there would be a possibility of allowing a cul-de-sac
to be installed in nutmeg lane,instead of connecting the road to Salem Street.This was previously not
allowed by the planning board and causes filling of some isolated wetlands that the conservation
commission would like preserved.
I will be at your next meeting to discuss this matter.
