The system installation is ready for inspection by your Department. One issue that needs to be addressed by the contractor is that the force main was installed very shallow in the ground with minimum pitch back to the pump tank such that pipe will be subject to freezing in the winter months as it is less than 1 foot in the ground in various locations. The contractor should either insulate the pipe along its entire length or preferably core the pump tank and exit the force main at a greater depth which will provide greater cover and a steeper pitch back to the pump tank, thus eliminating the likelihood of freezing. made the contractor aware of our concerns. Hoods are scheduled to be cleaned tonight. -Salad area transport cart has dirt build up-clean. -Two flies observed near conveyor area. No ants observed. Pest report indicates Waltham treated for ants since last week. Under advice of Waltham, manager is treating drains near conveyor nightly with boric acid. Conveyor track is washed after lunch and dinner. There is new grout in the tile around dish conveyor-that was done over shut down. Large basement storage room is under renovation. I hope they got your ok? The only renovation so far is the removal of one of the walls (to right as you look in double doors). This right side wall is now set back farther, making the storage room larger, and new blue wall board is installed. I talked to Bryan and Meagan about how the conveyor could be better designed should it be renovated. It would be better if it had it's own self cleaning mechanism, a better system for catching debris and water, and there shouldn't be such a long inaccessible space between the kitchen and dining room. Looks like they are looking for the system to be in by June 30th. -----Original Message----- From: Lorraine [mailto:rainlo22comcast.net] Sent:Thursday, May 21, 2015 3:05 PM To: Department, Health Cc: Sawyer, Susan Subject:ATTN: Michele 526 Winter street subsurface sewage disposal system t Michele, My husband Doug spoke with you earlier about the subsurface sewage disposal system plans that he delivered to your office earlier today. Just wanted to add some additional information . As part of our regular maintenance we scheduled to have our septic pumped on April 10th of 2015 and at this time we were thinking of selling our North Andover home of 40 years. So decided to also go ahead with a title V inspection, which failed, but the system still operates fine. We do wonder how much the very high water table at the time may have affected the results. Upon learning of this failue we immediately contracted with Merrimack Engineering to come up with a plan for a new system and filed with the town on the same day, 10th of April . On April 21 st we placed our home on the market with the clear disclosure that a new system would be installed. Our home is now under agreement but we had no idea of the lengthy amount of time that would be involved with this septic process. It's very possible that we could loose the sale as it looks like the system will not be able to be completed by June 30th> I'm sure you've heard about similar situations before and am wondering if you have any advice for us? As you know, the new system is costly and so is loosing a sale on your home after all the effort towards the selling process. We are not a young couple with a lot of income potential ahead of us. Enclosed herewith is a copy of the Septic Plan Submittal Form and fee,the Soil Evaluation Forms, the Particle Size Analysis Report by Terra Filter, a Local Upgrade Approval Form, and the Infiltrator Chamber Technology Certification along with 3 copies of the plans. Due to the overwhelming predominance of wetlands on site, the system as designed, requires a waiver from the NA Board of Health Regulations to allow the septic tank to be 50 feet from a wetland where 75 feet is required. On behalf of the owner, Doug Schmidt,we respectfully request this matter be placed on the earliest available BOH meeting agenda for consideration of the waiver request.
