Nelson, Director DPCD FROM: Christian C. Huntress, Towanner DATE: August 27, 1992 RE: 476 Great Pond Road Neiburger Estate Mr. Edward and Gayle Neiburger have submitted plans for renovation of the existing cottage at the above referenced location. This application will require a Special Permit from the Planning Board for regrading and construction within 100 ' of a tributary to Lake Cochichewick. (Section 4 . 136 NAZBL) As I will be leaving on September 4th, I would like to see that the following concerns are addressed by the Board at the time of the public hearing. The applicant should be required to provide an adequate sewage disposal system which will satisfy both the Local and State requirements without the necessity of a variance. As this existing system is located only 20 feet from a direct tributary both the Planning Board and Board of Health should be careful of the very real negative impact which could occur to the Town's drinking water supply. In past approvals the Planning Board has required extension of the municipal sewer system at the applicant' s expense. Although I would never recommend that unnecessary expense be incurred by an applicant, the Town should consider all possible alternatives for protection of our drinking water supply.
