Plaistow,NH 03865 May 28, 2010 Dear Mr. Young: During our meeting on May 4, 2010, we discuss the changes that you proposed to the drainage system at 673 Great Pond Road, that was approved as part of a Watershed Special Permit granted by the North Andover Planning Board on October 21, 2008. The revised site plan that you sent to me on May 18, 2010, (Plan titled Site Modifications, 673 Great Pond Road,August 30, 2007) shows an infiltrator to be installed in the lawn area that would treat runoff from the roof and patio area. This infiltrator would replace the individual infiltration wells, due to the fact that the water table was found to be higher than expected in that area and the original design could have forced water onto the foundation of the existing home. I am of the opinion that this change can be considered a "field change" and does not need to be reviewed by the Planning Board and does not require a change to the original Watershed Special Permit Decision. Please be sure to include this change in the as-built plan that is required once the project is complete. If you have any questions, please let me know. If you have any other questions, please let me know. I am attaching the revised site plan for the landscaping project including the design of the infiltration system discussed on Tuesday. As discussed, the revision to the plan reflects soil and topography issues uncovered as the work was initiated this spring. It was determined individual infiltration wells would not be effective due to high water tables and it was determined that the grades adjacent to the house are forcing water from the downspouts from the roof drains to pond against the foundation. To deal with these two issues we are proposing a leaching field type infiltrator to be placed in the lawn area to infiltrate runoff from the roof and the patio area. The system will be constructed outside of the wetland buffer zone and an erosion barrier will be established to assure the activities and any runoff is contained. We understand this will be considered a minor revision and will not require a meeting with the Planning Board, however, if you require added information please let me know.
