The PLANNING BOARD held a regular meeting on Monday evening, August 5, 1985
in the Senior Center Meeting Room. The following members were in attendance:
Michael P. Roberts, Chairman; John A. James, Jr., Clerk; Erich W. Nitzsche.
Karen Nelson, Town Planner was also present.
The meeting was called to order at 8:10 p.m.

By John A. James, Jr., to approve the Minutes of July 19, 1985 Planning
Board minutes.

PUBLIC HEARING
Abbott Village Estates - Continued
John A. James, Jr., Clerk, read letter received by the Building Department,
Police Department, Fire Department, and Conservation Commission which were
received after the last public hearing and were placed on file.
A petition signed by 254 residents was presented to Chairman Roberts by Dave
Ruane of Abbott Street objecting to the subdivision for environmental and safety
reasons. It was placed on file.
Ed Hollingshead of Fay, Spofford & Thorndike presented a Traffic/Access/
Feasibility Study to the Planning Board. Many questions from the audience were
addressed to Mr. Hollingshead, e.g., the validity of the study because of the
time of year it was done, why the Rea St. intersection was not studied, and
n~erous statements regarding the credibility of the study.
The following letters were read by the clerk and placed on file: D.P. Ruane,
240 Abbott St., 7/25/85; Don & Ann Martin, 198 Abbott St., 7/25/85; Diane and
Stuart Vogel, 226 Abbott St., 7/30/85.
A meeting will be scheduled between town department heads, the developer,
the engineering firm, a planning board member along with a representative from
Woodberry Lane and Abbott Street to address the safety problem in addition to
many other concerns the abutters have.

DISCUSSION
Campion Hall - John A. James read a letter concerning the moving of a detention
pond to the rear of a'cul-de-sac in the Campion Hall Subdivision from William
Cyr, Highway Surveyor and placed it on file.

MOTION: By John James, Jr. that we approve the plan subject to the Town
Planner being satisfied with the relocation of the pond on the plan
and in accordance with the Highway Surveyor's letter dated August 5,
1985.

with the Public Works letter for water and sewer construction in the
amount of $81,850.

prejudice due to the fact that the Town purchased the land on JULY~),
1985.

CORRESPONDENCE
French Farm - A letter was read from the Highway Surveyor regarding the poor
conditions that exist at the French Farm subdivision, e.g., landscaping not
according to plans, excessive dust, open ditches. The letter was addressed to
Benjamin Osgood.
MOTION: By John A. James, Jr. that Mr. Osgood and Mr. Cyr discuss these issues
and report back to the Planning Board at their next meeting.
