BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTES March 8, 2016
CALL TO ORDER:
ChairmanTracy Watson called the meeting to order at 6:05PM at School
Administration Building Meeting Room.
ATTENDANCE:
The following were present: Chairman Tracy Watson, Clerk Phil DeCologero, Licensing
Commissioner, Richard Vaillancourt, Rosemary Smedile, Donald Stewart, Town Manager Andrew Maylor,
Assistant Town Manager, Ray Santilli and Executive Assistant, Laurie Burzlaff. Twelve members of the
public were in attendance.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
POLICE CHIEF SELECTION PROCESS:
The Board conducted interviews of the three candidates for Police Chief in the following order: Sergeant
Daniel J. Crevier, Lieutenant Charles Gray and Lieutenant Eric J. Foulds. The candidates gave an
opening statement, the Board asked each candidate the same questions and then each candidate gave a
closing statement. After the interviews the board discussed the candidates.
Donald Stewart made a MOTION, seconded by Rosemary Smedile, that the Board of Selectmen
appoint Lieutenant Charles Gray as the Police Chief effective July 1, 2016, subject to receipt of
letter relinquishing his civil service status and execution of the employment agreement negotiated
with the Town Manager. Vote approved 3-2. Richard Vaillancourt and Phil DeCologero opposed.
Phil DeCologero made a MOTION, seconded by Rosemary Smedile, to vote unanimous consent
for the selection of Lieutenant Charles Gray as Police Chief. Vote 4-1. Richard Vaillancourt
opposed.
Rosemary Smedile made a MOTION, seconded by Donald Stewart that the Board release the
Police and Fire Assessment Center results to the public. Vote approved 5-0.

ADJOURNMENT:
Donald Stewart made a MOTION, seconded by Rosemary Smedile, to adjourn the meeting at
7:45p.m. Vote approved 5-0.
