Hello Jean,
I have included a summary of my position on the current proposed Fire Station. Please distribute this
information to all Planning Board members. Also, As I discussed with you before , I will not be
available to attend the meeting and my father will attend in my place. Please record this information
and statement as part of the minutes for tomorrow nights meeting also.

Although we support the need for a new fire station we DO NOT support the current proposed
Design.
The special permit is a unique type of permit and it is something that should not be issued
automatically. It is usually issued for a non standard and out of the ordinary use for a particular parcel
of land and in such cases it is imperative that all the design details should be adhered to without
exception. With this type of permit there should be a high level of sensitivity towards all abutters.
There should be a "Common Courtesy" and a "Good Neighbor" approach a "good faith" effort when
presenting the design/design changes such as a variance to the project; the town needs to improve in
this area. Furthermore, we believe the Town has not met the condition for this permit " The use as
developed will not adversely affect the Neighborhood". We believe it will because of the following:
1) Introducing more traffic and larger vehicles poses safety issues for my family and especially my
daughter (2.5yrs old) whose right eye was enucleated when she was 2 months old.
2) The building does not assimilate into the R2 residential area from the size of the building, to the
number of parking spots, to the lighting, to the placement of access pt on Prescott St. In general there
is minimal buffering.
3) Applying for a variance because the current design does not fit on the lot is a misuse of the process
and it should be rejected.
