Is in the process of collecting signatures (deadline Oct 17) for the meals tax th article to be on the warrant for the special Town Meeting on Nov. 15. . Explained what meals tax is (.75% tax on meals) 75 cents on a $100.00 meal. Andover, Haverhill Lawrence and North Reading have all passed meals tax. AL: Does BOS and Fincom have to approve? MR: expenditures must be voted on by BOS And Fincom not revenues. If it were to pass on 11/15 DOR would have 1 month to modify software and tax would be collected 1/1 AL most important data we need to collect is from surrounding towns who have adopted the tax and how they are handling it.
