Batal Hearing - 8 P.M. , January 10, 1973 at Meeting Room in Town Hall

The Notice that appeared in the Lawrence Tribune was read by Mrs. Kittredge
(see file). Mr. James A. Glenn, Attorney for Mr. Batal, said that the
letter of intent filed by Mr. Batal states that he has no intention of
affecting the bank of the brook in any way. Mr. Batal will be glad to
answer any questions.
Bill Chapulis - Looking at the bank of the lake, certain physical areas had
to be altered to put in the house. The prime purpose of the j
Conservation Commission is to direct a hearing to discuss
preserving the natural features of the land and brook. I

Mr. Batal - When I change anything or move the stream, then I will file
a new letter of intent. At present I don't intend to change
the brook.

Bill Chapulis - It is true that no change should be made without a letter of
intent. Has there been fill close to the brook or into it?
Mr. Batal - Yes, a log or so was init.
Bill Chapulis - Wasn't there fill in the brook?
Mrs. Kittredge- It seemed to me, on observing the land yesterday, that there
was a large pile of fill next to the brook and that part of
the brook was backed up behind it.

Mr. Batal - That isn't so.
Mrs. T&ombly - How close to the brook will the fill come?
Mr. Batal •- 3 or 4 feet.
